1. Introduction

The Sphero SPRK+ is an app-enabled robot ball designed to foster curiosity, creativity, and invention through connected play and coding. It integrates programmable sensors, including a gyroscope, accelerometer, motor encoders, and colorful LED lights, enabling a wide array of play experiences and coding opportunities for all skill levels. The Sphero SPRK+ is controlled via the Sphero Edu app, allowing users to learn programming, engage in hands-on activities, and share their creations.

This educational robot features a scratch-resistant, waterproof shell, inductive charging, and Bluetooth SMART connectivity, bringing your commands and creations to life. It is built for durability and extended play sessions.

2. What's in the Box

Your Sphero SPRK+ package includes the following components:

3. Setup

3.1. Charging Your SPRK+

Before first use, fully charge your Sphero SPRK+. Place the SPRK+ on its inductive charging base. Connect the USB charging cable from the base to a USB power source (e.g., computer USB port, USB wall adapter). The SPRK+ will illuminate to indicate charging. A full charge typically takes approximately 3 hours and provides about 1 hour of play time.

3.2. Downloading the App

The Sphero SPRK+ is controlled via mobile applications. Download the official Sphero Edu app from your device's app store (available on iOS, Android, Kindle, Mac, Windows, and Chrome). For basic driving and games, you can also use the Sphero Play app.

3.3. Connecting to Your Device

Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device or computer. Open the Sphero Edu app. The app will guide you through the connection process. Typically, you will select your SPRK+ from a list of nearby Sphero devices. Once connected, the SPRK+ will be ready for use.

4. Operating Your SPRK+

4.1. Driving and Playing

Use the Sphero Play app for simple driving controls and interactive games. The app provides a virtual joystick to maneuver your SPRK+ and various game modes to explore.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning

To clean your Sphero SPRK+, wipe its exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these may damage the shell. Ensure the charging port area on the inductive base is kept clean and free of debris.

5.2. Battery Care

For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the SPRK+ frequently. Store the device in a cool, dry place when not in use. If storing for an extended period, ensure it has at least a partial charge.

5.3. Waterproof Shell

The Sphero SPRK+ features a waterproof shell, allowing it to be used in water. After water play, rinse the robot with fresh water and dry it thoroughly before placing it back on the charging base.
