1. Introduction

4. Setup and Assembly

1. Prepare the Stand Mixer: Ensure your SMEG Stand Mixer (SMF01 series) is unplugged and turned off. The front accessory hub cover should be removed.
2. Attach the Housing: Insert the Slicer & Grater Attachment housing into the front accessory hub of your stand mixer. Rotate the attachment slightly until it locks into place. Secure it by tightening the accessory knob on the side of the stand mixer.
3. Insert a Drum: Select the desired stainless steel drum for your task (slicing or grating). Insert the drum into the attachment housing, ensuring it is seated correctly.
4. Position a Bowl: Place a suitable bowl or container beneath the outlet of the attachment to collect the processed food.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the attachment is securely installed and a collection bowl is in place, you can begin processing food.

1. Power On: Plug in your SMEG Stand Mixer and turn it on to a low to medium speed setting (refer to your stand mixer manual for recommended speeds for accessories).
2. Feed Food: Gently place food items into the feed tube of the attachment. Use the plastic food pusher to guide the food towards the rotating drum. Never use your fingers or other utensils to push food.
3. Process: The food will be sliced or grated by the drum and exit through the front opening into your collection bowl.
4. Turn Off: When finished, turn off the stand mixer and unplug it from the power outlet before disassembling or cleaning.

5.1. Slicing

Use the slicing drums for uniform slices of vegetables like zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, or potatoes. Ensure food items fit comfortably into the feed tube.

5.2. Grating

The grating drums are suitable for cheese, chocolate, nuts, or firmer vegetables. Select the appropriate drum for fine, medium, or coarse grating.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures hygiene and extends the life of your attachment. Always unplug the stand mixer before cleaning.

1. Disassembly: Remove the attachment from the stand mixer. Carefully remove the drum and the plastic pusher.
2. Washing: The stainless steel drums and the plastic pusher can be washed by hand using warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately. Note: The product specifications indicate that this attachment is NOT dishwasher safe.
3. Housing: Wipe the exterior of the attachment housing with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the housing in water.
