6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential for the proper functioning and longevity of your nebulizer.
6.1. Cleaning After Each Use
- Disconnect the air tube, medication cup, mouthpiece/mask from the compressor unit.
- Disassemble the medication cup.
- Wash all parts (medication cup, mouthpiece, mask) with warm water and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
- Air dry the components completely on a clean paper towel or allow them to drip dry. Do not towel dry.
6.2. Disinfection (Daily/Weekly)
For disinfection, follow your physician's or manufacturer's recommendations. A common method is to soak the cleaned parts (excluding the air tube and compressor unit) in a solution of one part white vinegar to two parts distilled water for 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly and air dry.
6.3. Cleaning the Compressor Unit
Wipe the exterior of the compressor unit with a clean, damp cloth. Do not immerse the unit in water or spray liquids directly onto it.
6.4. Air Filter Replacement
Check the air filter regularly (e.g., every 10-12 treatments or monthly). Replace the filter when it appears discolored or dirty. To replace, locate the filter cap on the compressor unit, remove the old filter, and insert a new one. Do not wash or reuse air filters.
