2. Setup
2.1 Unpacking and Placement
- Carefully remove all packaging materials and protective films from the machine.
- Place the machine on a stable, flat, and heat-resistant surface, away from water sources and direct sunlight.
- Ensure adequate space around the machine for ventilation and access to the water tank and bean hopper.
2.2 Filling the Water Tank
- Remove the water tank from the back of the machine.
- Fill the tank with fresh, cold water up to the MAX level indicator.
- Replace the water tank securely into its position.
- It is recommended to use a KRUPS F088 water filtration cartridge (sold separately) to reduce limescale buildup.
2.3 Adding Coffee Beans
- Open the lid of the coffee bean hopper located on top of the machine.
- Pour fresh, whole coffee beans into the hopper. Do not overfill.
- Close the hopper lid securely.

2.4 Initial Start-up and Rinse Cycle
- Plug the machine into a grounded electrical outlet.
- Press the power button to turn on the machine. The LCD display will guide you through the initial setup.
- The machine will perform an automatic rinse cycle. Place a container under the coffee nozzles to collect the water.
- Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the initial setup.
3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Navigating the LCD Display
The machine features an intuitive LCD display and an ergonomic knob for selecting drink options and adjusting settings.

- Rotate the central knob to scroll through the available drink options or menu settings.
- Press the central knob to confirm your selection.
- Use the dedicated buttons for specific functions like 'PROG' for programming or the steam icon for milk frothing.
3.2 Making Espresso or Coffee
- Ensure the water tank is filled and coffee beans are in the hopper.
- Place a cup under the coffee nozzles.
- Rotate the knob to select your desired drink (e.g., Espresso, Coffee).
- Press the knob to start brewing. The machine will automatically grind the beans and brew your selected drink.
- You can adjust the grind setting (finer for espresso, coarser for coffee) using the dial inside the bean hopper.
3.3 Frothing Milk for Cappuccinos and Lattes
- Fill the integrated milk container with cold milk.
- Attach the milk container to the machine's milk frothing system.
- Place a cup under the milk frother nozzle and the coffee nozzles.
- Select a milk-based drink (e.g., Cappuccino, Latte) from the LCD menu.
- Press the knob to start. The machine will froth the milk and then brew the coffee into your cup.

3.4 Dispensing Hot Water
- Place a cup under the coffee nozzles.
- Rotate the knob to select "Hot Water" from the menu.
- Press the knob to start dispensing hot water.
4. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance ensure optimal performance and longevity of your KRUPS EA8298 machine.
4.1 Emptying Drip Tray and Coffee Grounds Container
- The machine will indicate when the drip tray or coffee grounds container needs emptying.
- Carefully remove the drip tray and grounds container.
- Empty and rinse both components with warm water. Dry thoroughly before reinserting.
4.2 Cleaning the Milk Frother
- After each use, activate the automatic cappuccino cleaning setting if available, or manually rinse the frother.
- The integrated milk container is removable and dishwasher safe for thorough cleaning.
- Regularly disassemble and clean all parts of the milk frothing system to prevent blockages.
4.3 Descaling
The machine will prompt you when descaling is required. Use KRUPS F054 descaling powder (sold separately) and follow the on-screen instructions for the descaling cycle.
4.4 Cleaning Tablets
Use KRUPS XS3000 cleaning tablets (sold separately) as indicated by the machine or as part of routine maintenance to clean the internal coffee circuits.
