2. Safety Information
- Ensure the power supply unit (PSU) is connected to a stable power source.
- Do not connect more than one PSU to the same hash board to prevent potential damage and instability.
- Operate the miner within the specified temperature range of 0 °C to 40 °C.
- Keep the device away from water, moisture, and high humidity.
- Do not attempt to open or modify the miner, as this may void the warranty and pose safety risks.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the miner to prevent overheating.
3. Package Contents
Verify that all items are present in the package:
- AntMiner S9 ASIC Bitcoin Miner
- Power Supply Unit (PSU)
- Power Cord
4. Setup Guide
4.1 Power Connection
The AntMiner S9 requires TEN 6-pin PCI-e connectors for 12V DC input. These connectors must be supplied by a very stable power source.
- Locate the three hash boards, each requiring three 6-pin PCI-e connectors.
- Locate the controller board, which requires one additional 6-pin PCI-e connector.
- Connect all TEN 6-pin PCI-e connectors from the power supply unit to the respective ports on the miner.
- Ensure all connections are secure.
- Connect the power cord from the PSU to a suitable electrical outlet.
Important Note:
- Bitmain recommends the APW3 power supply for 205-264V outlets. For voltages lower than 205V, use the EVGA 1600 G2.
- Power consumption figures are dependent on PSU efficiency, ambient operating temperature, and power meter accuracy.

4.2 Network Connection
The AntMiner S9 connects to your network via an Ethernet cable.
- Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the ETH port on the AntMiner S9.
- Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to your router or network switch.
- Once connected, the miner will automatically obtain an IP address via DHCP.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Accessing the Web Management Portal
The AntMiner S9 features a built-in web management portal, eliminating the need for a separate host computer for configuration.
- Ensure the miner is powered on and connected to your network.
- To find the miner's IP address, you can use an IP scanner tool on your network or press the "IP Report" button on the miner. Hold the button for 5 seconds until you hear a beep. The IP address will be reported to the IP Reporter tool (available from Antminer support).
- Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network.
- Enter the miner's IP address into the browser's address bar and press Enter.
- You will be prompted for login credentials. The default username and password are typically "root" and "root" (or "admin" and "admin"). Refer to the latest Antminer documentation for default credentials.
- Once logged in, you can configure mining pool settings, monitor performance, and update firmware.

5.2 Configuring Mining Pools
Within the web management portal, navigate to the "Miner Configuration" or "Pool Settings" section to enter your mining pool details. You will typically need to provide:
- Pool URL: The address of your chosen mining pool.
- Worker Name: Your worker name, usually in the format
username.workername. - Password: The password for your worker (often 'x' or a specific password set on the pool).
It is recommended to configure at least two mining pools (primary and backup) for continuous operation.
6. Maintenance
- Dust Removal: Regularly inspect and clean the cooling fans and heat sinks to prevent dust buildup, which can impede airflow and lead to overheating. Use compressed air for effective cleaning.
- Environmental Control: Maintain a stable operating environment with good airflow and within the recommended temperature range (0 °C to 40 °C).
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the official Antminer website for firmware updates. Keeping the firmware updated can improve performance and stability.
- Power Supply Check: Ensure the power supply unit is functioning correctly and providing stable voltage.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Miner not powering on | Loose power connections, faulty PSU, power outlet issue. | Check all 6-pin PCI-e connections. Verify PSU functionality. Test the power outlet with another device. |
| Miner not detected on network | Loose Ethernet cable, network configuration issue, router problem. | Ensure Ethernet cable is securely connected. Restart your router. Use an IP scanner to find the miner's IP. Try a different Ethernet port or cable. |
| Low hash rate or unstable operation | Overheating, insufficient power, incorrect pool settings, dust buildup. | Ensure proper ventilation and clean fans. Verify all 6-pin PCI-e connectors are used and stable. Double-check mining pool URLs and worker credentials. |
| Fans not spinning or making unusual noise | Fan malfunction, obstruction. | Inspect fans for obstructions. If a fan is faulty, it may need replacement. |
For more complex issues, refer to the official Antminer support resources or contact customer support.
