4. Setup

Follow these steps to safely set up your Kemper KE2019 gas soldering torch:

  1. Prepare the Work Area: Ensure your work area is well-ventilated, free from flammable materials, and has adequate lighting.
  2. Insert Gas Cartridge:
    • Ensure the flame adjustment knob is in the 'OFF' position.
    • Unscrew the base of the torch to access the cartridge compartment.
    • Carefully insert a new 190g piercable gas cartridge into the compartment. The torch is designed with an anti-cartridge release mechanism for safety.
    • Screw the base back on firmly until the cartridge is pierced and sealed. You may hear a slight hiss as the cartridge is pierced; this is normal. Ensure there are no gas leaks.
  3. Check for Leaks: After installing the cartridge, apply a small amount of soapy water to the connection points. If bubbles appear, there is a leak. Tighten the connection or replace the cartridge if necessary. Do not use the torch if a leak is detected.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the gas cartridge is installed and checked for leaks, you can begin operating your torch.

  1. Ignition:
    • Slowly turn the flame adjustment knob counter-clockwise to allow a small amount of gas to flow.
    • Press the piezo ignition button firmly. You should hear a click and see the flame ignite.
    • If the torch does not ignite on the first attempt, release the button, wait a few seconds, and try again.
  2. Adjusting the Flame:
    • Turn the flame adjustment knob clockwise to decrease the flame size and intensity.
    • Turn the flame adjustment knob counter-clockwise to increase the flame size and intensity.
    • Always adjust the flame to the appropriate size for your task.
  3. Extinguishing the Flame:
    • Turn the flame adjustment knob fully clockwise until the flame extinguishes and the gas flow stops completely.
    • Ensure the knob is in the 'OFF' position before setting the torch down or storing it.
  4. After Use: Allow the torch to cool down completely before handling or storing. The nozzle and surrounding areas will be extremely hot.

  • Cleaning: After the torch has cooled, wipe the exterior with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or residue. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

  • Gas Cartridge Replacement: When the gas cartridge is empty, ensure the torch is cool and the flame adjustment knob is in the 'OFF' position. Unscrew the base, remove the empty cartridge, and dispose of it according to local regulations. Insert a new cartridge as described in the 'Setup' section.
  • Storage: Store the torch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and out of reach of children. Ensure no gas cartridge is installed if storing for extended periods.

7. Troubleshooting
