Operating Instructions
Operating your TecTake Retractable Windscreen is simple and intuitive.
Extending the Windscreen:
- Grasp the ergonomic handle firmly.
- Gently pull the fabric horizontally outwards from the main housing. The automatic spring mechanism will allow for smooth extension.
- Continue pulling until the handle reaches the receiving post.
- Align the handle with the locking mechanism on the receiving post and push it down to secure the fabric in place. Ensure it is firmly locked to prevent accidental retraction.
Retracting the Windscreen:
- Unlock the handle from the receiving post by lifting it slightly and disengaging the locking pin.
- Slowly guide the handle back towards the main housing. The automatic winding mechanism will retract the fabric smoothly. Do not release the handle abruptly, as this could cause damage or injury.
- Once fully retracted, the fabric will be neatly stored within the main housing.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance will help prolong the life and appearance of your TecTake Retractable Windscreen.
- Cleaning the Fabric: The polyester fabric with PU coating is easy to clean. Use a soft cloth, mild soap, and water to wipe down the fabric. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the coating. Allow the fabric to dry completely before retracting to prevent mildew.
- Cleaning the Frame: Wipe the aluminum frame with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt.
- Inspection: Periodically check all screws and mounting points to ensure they remain tight and secure. Inspect the fabric for any tears or damage. Check the winding mechanism for smooth operation.
- Winter Storage: In areas with harsh winters, it is recommended to retract the windscreen and store it indoors or cover it to protect it from extreme cold, snow, and ice.
Troubleshooting
Here are some common issues and their solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Windscreen does not extend or retract smoothly. | Obstruction in the path; fabric caught; winding mechanism issue. | Check for any obstructions. Ensure fabric is not twisted or caught. If the mechanism is faulty, contact customer support. |
| Windscreen does not lock into the receiving post. | Handle not properly aligned; locking pin damaged. | Ensure the handle is perfectly aligned with the receiving post's slot. Inspect the locking pin for damage. |
| Fabric appears loose or sags. | Improper installation; fabric stretched over time. | Verify that the main housing and receiving post are mounted at the correct distance and tension. If fabric is stretched, it may be normal wear or require replacement. |
| Mounting points feel unstable. | Loose screws; inadequate anchors; weak mounting surface. | Tighten all screws. If necessary, use stronger anchors or reinforce the mounting surface. Consult a professional if unsure. |
