3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove the air conditioner from its packaging. Retain the packaging materials for future storage or transport. Check for any damage during transit. If the unit appears damaged, do not operate it and contact customer support.

3.2 Placement

Place the unit on a flat, stable surface. Ensure there is at least 30 cm (12 inches) of clear space around the unit for proper air circulation. Do not place the unit near heat sources or in direct sunlight.

3.3 Exhaust Hose Installation

The Tectro TP2020 requires an exhaust hose to vent hot air outside. This is crucial for effective cooling.

  1. Attach one end of the exhaust hose to the exhaust air outlet on the back of the unit. Twist or click into place as per the design.
  2. Attach the window kit adapter to the other end of the exhaust hose.
  3. Open a window or sliding door and install the window kit. Extend the kit to fit the opening and secure it.
  4. Insert the exhaust hose adapter into the opening of the window kit, ensuring a tight seal to prevent hot air from re-entering the room.

3.4 Drainage Setup (Dehumidifier Mode)

When operating in dehumidifier mode, water will be collected. The unit may have an internal tank or a continuous drainage option.

  • Internal Tank: The unit will stop operating when the internal water tank is full. You will need to manually empty it. Refer to the "Maintenance" section for instructions.
  • Continuous Drainage: For continuous operation in dehumidifier mode, connect a drainage hose (not always included) to the drainage port and lead it to a floor drain or a suitable container. Ensure the hose is sloped downwards for gravity drainage.
