Setup

Extending the Correct Plug:

Operating Instructions

The Insignia Travel Adapter/Converter offers two modes of operation: Adapter and Converter.

Understanding Adapter vs. Converter Mode:

• Adapter Mode: This mode simply changes the physical plug shape to fit the wall outlet. It does not change the voltage. Use this mode if your device is dual-voltage (e.g., 100-240V) and can handle the local voltage directly. This is typically for devices like laptops, phone chargers, and cameras.
• Converter Mode: This mode transforms higher foreign voltage (220-240V) down to the North American standard (110-120V). Use this mode for single-voltage North American devices (110-120V) that are high-wattage heating appliances, such as hair dryers, curling irons, or travel irons, up to 1875W. Do not use converter mode for sensitive electronics like laptops, phones, or battery chargers, as it can damage them.

Using the Adapter/Converter:

1. Determine your device's voltage requirements: Check the label on your device or its power supply.
2. Identify the local voltage: Research the standard voltage of your destination country.
3. Select the correct mode: Move the switch on the adapter/converter to either 'Adapter' or 'Converter' based on your device's voltage and wattage, and the local voltage.
4. Extend the appropriate plug prongs for the wall outlet.
5. Plug your device into the universal AC outlet on the front of the adapter/converter.
6. Insert the adapter/converter into the wall outlet. The power indicator light should illuminate.
