Setup

Initial Winding

Your Stauer Noire watch features an automatic movement, meaning it is powered by the motion of your body. However, for initial setup or if the watch has stopped due to lack of wear, it requires manual winding.

  • To manually wind the watch, turn the crown (the knob on the side of the watch) clockwise 25-50 times, or until you feel resistance.
  • This will build up enough power reserve for the watch to start running.

Setting the Time and Date

The Stauer Noire watch includes functions for displaying the time, day, date, and month.

  1. Setting the Time: Pull the crown out to the furthest position. Turn the crown to adjust the hour and minute hands. Push the crown back in when the correct time is set.
  2. Setting the Date: Pull the crown out to the first click position. Turn the crown to adjust the date. Be careful not to adjust the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can damage the movement.
  3. Setting Day/Month: Use the small pushers on the side of the watch case to advance the day and month subdials. Refer to the specific pusher locations for each function.

Operating Instructions

Automatic Movement

The Stauer Noire watch is powered by a 27-jeweled automatic movement. This means it does not require batteries. The movement of your body, specifically your wrist, generates the kinetic energy needed to wind the mainspring and keep the watch running.

For optimal performance, it is recommended to wear your watch daily. Consistent wear ensures the watch remains wound and accurate. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, it may stop and require manual winding as described in the Setup section.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and crystal with a soft, lint-free cloth. For the leather strap, use a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary, then wipe dry immediately. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

Water Resistance

The Stauer Noire watch is water resistant. While it can withstand splashes or brief immersion, it is not suitable for swimming, diving, or prolonged water exposure. Always ensure the crown is fully pushed in to maintain water resistance.

Storage

When not wearing your watch, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, it is advisable to rest it on its side with the crown facing the ceiling to help maintain timekeeping accuracy.
