This image shows the front of the Genelec G Two active loudspeaker, featuring the tweeter at the top, the main woofer below it, and the Genelec logo at the bottom. A small indicator light is visible on the lower right. The speaker is black and rests on its Iso-Pod stand.

Figure 2: Rear View and Controls of Genelec G Two Speaker. This image displays the rear panel of the Genelec G Two speaker, highlighting its various controls and connections. Visible elements include the power switch, RCA input, mains input, serial number, and a set of DIP switches for room compensation adjustments (LEVEL, TABLETOP, LOW BASS, BASS). Safety warnings and regulatory marks are also present.
The Genelec G Two is a compact, active 2-way bookshelf speaker designed for high-quality audio reproduction. It features a 4.1-inch woofer and a 0.75-inch metal-dome tweeter, each powered by a dedicated Class-D amplifier, eliminating the need for external power amplifiers. The speaker's die-cast aluminum cabinet and rear-facing bass port contribute to its robust construction and acoustic performance.
Key features include:
- Active Design: Integrated amplifiers optimized for the drivers.
- RCA Input: For direct connection to various audio sources.
- Room Compensation Switches: DIP switches on the rear panel allow adjustment of the speaker's frequency response to match your listening environment.
- Iso-Pod™ Stand: The included stand helps decouple the speaker from its surface, reducing unwanted vibrations and allowing for tilt adjustment.
Setup
- Placement: Position the G Two speakers in your desired listening location. For optimal stereo imaging, place them equidistant from your listening position and form an equilateral triangle. The Iso-Pod stand allows you to tilt the speaker for optimal acoustic axis alignment towards your ears.
- Room Compensation: Before connecting, consider adjusting the room compensation switches on the rear panel (refer to Figure 2).
- LEVEL: Adjusts the overall output level.
- TABLETOP: Engages a filter to compensate for reflections when placed on a flat surface like a desk.
- LOW BASS: Reduces low-frequency output, useful in smaller rooms or when paired with a subwoofer.
- BASS (-6 dB, -4 dB): Further bass attenuation options for challenging acoustic environments.
- Connect Audio Source: Using the supplied RCA-RCA cable or 3.5mm to stereo RCA cable, connect your audio source (e.g., TV, computer, preamplifier) to the RCA INPUT on the rear of the G Two speaker. Ensure the audio source is turned off or its volume is set to minimum before connecting.
- Connect Power: Connect the supplied mains cable to the MAINS INPUT on the rear of the speaker and then to a suitable wall outlet.
- Power On: Flip the ON/OFF switch on the rear panel to the 'ON' position. The indicator light on the front of the speaker will illuminate.
Operating
Once set up, operating your Genelec G Two speaker is straightforward.
- Volume Control: The G Two does not have a dedicated volume knob. Volume is controlled directly from your audio source (e.g., TV remote, computer volume control, preamplifier).
- Power Management: For daily use, you can leave the speaker powered on. The Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS™) technology will automatically put the speaker into a low-power standby mode if no audio signal is detected for a period of time, and wake it up when a signal returns. To fully power off the speaker, use the ON/OFF switch on the rear panel.
- Room Compensation Refinement: After initial listening, you may wish to fine-tune the room compensation switches to achieve the most natural sound in your specific environment. Experiment with the settings to find what sounds best to your ears.
Maintenance
Proper care will ensure the longevity and performance of your Genelec G Two speakers.
- Cleaning: Clean the speaker cabinet with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
- Ventilation: Ensure that the rear panel and any ventilation openings are not obstructed to allow for proper heat dissipation.
- Environment: Avoid exposing the speakers to extreme temperatures, high humidity, or direct sunlight.
- Servicing: Do not attempt to service the speaker yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
