Setup Instructions

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Inspect for any damage.
  2. Connect Dust Extractor:
    • Place the dust extractor on a stable, level surface.
    • Ensure the dust bag or filter is correctly installed inside the extractor.
  3. Attach Dust Extraction Hose:
    • Connect one end of the dust extraction hose to the inlet port on the dust extractor. Ensure a secure fit.
    • Connect the other end of the hose to the dust extraction port on the Mirka Deros sander.
  4. Install Sanding Disc:
    • Ensure the sander is disconnected from the power supply.
    • Align the holes on the sanding disc with the holes on the sander's backing pad.
    • Press the sanding disc firmly onto the backing pad (hook and loop attachment).
  5. Power Connection:
    • Connect the sander's power cable to the power outlet on the dust extractor. This allows the sander to control the dust extractor's operation.
    • Plug the dust extractor's main power cable into a suitable electrical outlet (120V AC, 60Hz).

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On: Turn on the dust extractor. Many Mirka extractors have an auto-start function that activates when the sander is turned on.
  2. Adjust Speed: The Mirka Deros sander features a variable speed control. Use the speed adjustment buttons (usually '+' and '-') to select the desired RPM for your application. Start with a lower speed for delicate work and increase as needed.
  3. Sanding Technique:
    • Place the sander flat on the workpiece before turning it on.
    • Turn on the sander using the power switch.
    • Apply light, even pressure. Allow the weight of the tool to do most of the work.
    • Move the sander in overlapping passes across the surface. Avoid dwelling in one spot to prevent gouging.
    • For optimal dust extraction, ensure the sanding disc is properly attached and the hose connections are secure.
  4. Power Off: Turn off the sander. The dust extractor will typically continue to run for a few seconds to clear the hose, then shut off automatically if connected via the auto-start function.
  5. Changing Sanding Discs: Disconnect the sander from power. Peel off the old disc and attach a new one as described in the "Install Sanding Disc" section.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Mirka Deros system.

  • Cleaning:
    • After each use, wipe down the sander and dust extractor with a clean, dry cloth.
    • Periodically clean the backing pad of the sander to remove any accumulated dust or debris that could affect disc adhesion.
  • Dust Extractor Filter/Bag:
    • Regularly check and empty the dust bag or clean the filter of the dust extractor. A full bag or clogged filter will reduce suction efficiency.
    • Refer to your specific dust extractor manual for detailed filter cleaning/replacement instructions.
  • Hose Inspection: Inspect the dust extraction hose for any kinks, tears, or blockages that could impede airflow.
  • Power Cord Inspection: Check the power cord for any signs of damage, cuts, or fraying. Replace immediately if damaged.
  • Service: For any internal maintenance or repairs, contact an authorized Mirka service center. Do not attempt to disassemble the tool yourself.
