4. Setup

Before beginning any bearing removal or installation, ensure you have identified the correct size bushings and sleeves for your specific vehicle's wheel bearing. Refer to the provided dimension chart or vehicle service manual for accurate sizing. Lubricate the threads of the sliding screws thoroughly before assembly to ensure smooth operation and prevent damage.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Bearing Removal

  1. Safely lift and support the vehicle. Remove the wheel and brake caliper assembly to access the wheel hub and bearing.
  2. Select the appropriate sleeve and bushing that fit around the bearing and against the steering knuckle.
  3. Assemble the sliding screw, sliding nut, and selected components to create a press configuration that will push the old bearing out.
  4. Ensure all components are aligned correctly and securely seated.
  5. Slowly turn the sliding nut with a wrench to apply pressure, pressing the old bearing out of the steering knuckle. Continue until the bearing is fully removed.

5.2. Bearing Installation

  1. Clean the bearing bore in the steering knuckle thoroughly.
  2. Select the appropriate sleeve and bushing that will press the new bearing evenly into the bore without contacting the inner race of the bearing.
  3. Position the new bearing into the bore.
  4. Assemble the sliding screw, sliding nut, and selected components to create a press configuration that will push the new bearing into place.
  5. Ensure all components are aligned correctly and securely seated.
  6. Slowly turn the sliding nut with a wrench to apply pressure, pressing the new bearing evenly into the steering knuckle until it is fully seated. Do not over-press.
  7. Once the bearing is installed, reassemble the wheel hub, brake caliper, and wheel.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Difficulty turning the sliding nut: Ensure the threads are adequately lubricated. Check for proper alignment of components. If resistance is excessive, the wrong size bushing or sleeve may be used, or the bearing may be seized. Do not force the tool.
  • Bearing not moving: Verify that the correct components are selected and properly seated. Ensure the vehicle's suspension components are not obstructing the bearing's path.
  • Damage to components: This usually indicates improper use, such as misalignment, using excessive force, or not lubricating the threads. Always ensure components are aligned before applying pressure.
