Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Venstar T4900 Commercial Voyager Wi-Fi Programmable Thermostat. The T4900 is designed for commercial applications, offering advanced control over heating and cooling systems with features such as Wi-Fi connectivity, Alexa compatibility, and multi-stage programming.
Please read this manual thoroughly before attempting installation or operation to ensure proper functionality and to avoid potential damage to the unit or your HVAC system.
Safety Information
- Always turn off power to the heating and cooling system at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel before installing or servicing the thermostat.
- Installation should be performed by a qualified HVAC technician or electrician.
- Ensure all wiring connections are secure and comply with local electrical codes.
- Do not short circuit the terminals on the gas valve or primary control to test the thermostat. This will damage the thermostat and void the warranty.
- This thermostat operates on 24 Volts AC. Do not connect to line voltage (120V/240V).

Setup and Installation
1. Location
Install the thermostat approximately 5 feet (1.5 meters) above the floor in an area with good air circulation, away from direct sunlight, drafts, and heat sources. Avoid locations near windows, doors, or vents that could affect temperature readings.
2. Power Off
Before beginning installation, ensure the power to your HVAC system is completely turned off at the circuit breaker.
3. Remove Old Thermostat
Carefully remove your old thermostat from the wall. Take a picture of the existing wiring connections before disconnecting any wires. Label each wire with the terminal designation it was connected to.
4. Mount the New Thermostat
- Separate the front cover from the thermostat base.
- Position the thermostat base on the wall, feeding the wires through the opening.
- Mark the mounting holes. Drill pilot holes if necessary.
- Secure the thermostat base to the wall using the provided screws and anchors.

5. Wiring
Connect the wires to the corresponding terminals on the T4900 thermostat base. Refer to the wiring diagram specific to your HVAC system type (e.g., conventional, heat pump). The T4900 supports 4 Heat Stages & 2 Cool Stages.
Important: If only 4 wires are available for installation, the Venstar Add-A-Wire accessory (PN# ACC0410) may be required. Consult the Add-A-Wire installation instructions for details.
6. Attach Front Cover and Power On
Once wiring is complete, carefully attach the front cover to the thermostat base. Restore power to your HVAC system at the circuit breaker.
7. Initial Configuration
Upon first power-up, the thermostat may guide you through initial setup steps, including system type selection and basic date/time settings. Follow the on-screen prompts.
