The Dahle 50464 is capable of shredding CDs, DVDs, and credit cards. Insert these items one at a time into the designated media entry slot (if separate) or the main paper entry slot, following the same procedure as for paper.

4.4 Jam Protection (Trident Grip)

5. Maintenance

5.1 Emptying the Waste Bin

The shredder features a 30-gallon waste bin. When the bin is full, the shredder will indicate this and cease operation. Unplug the shredder, carefully pull out the waste bin, empty its contents, and reinsert it securely. Ensure the bin is properly seated for the shredder to resume operation.

5.2 Oil-Free Operation

The Dahle 50464 is designed for oil-free operation. This eliminates the need for regular oiling of the cutting cylinders, simplifying maintenance and reducing operational costs.

5.3 Cleaning

To clean the exterior of the shredder, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the shredder is unplugged before cleaning.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Shredder does not turn on: Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet. Ensure the waste bin is correctly inserted and the shredder is not indicating a full bin.
  • Paper jam: If the shredder stops due to a jam, press the reverse button on the control panel to clear the paper. If the jam persists, unplug the shredder and carefully remove any visible paper from the entry slot. Avoid forcing paper out.
  • Reduced shredding capacity: This may indicate the waste bin is nearly full or the shredder is overheating. Allow the shredder to cool down if it has been in continuous use.
