Setup

  1. Handle Assembly: Attach the upper and lower handle sections to the main unit using the provided hardware. Ensure all connections are secure.
  2. Collection Bag Attachment: Securely attach the 8-gallon collection bag to the rear of the unit.
  3. Cylinder Installation: The unit comes with one cylinder pre-installed. To switch between the dethatcher and scarifier cylinders, carefully flip the unit over. Loosen the two retaining bolts on the side, remove the current cylinder, and insert the desired one. Tighten the bolts securely.

Operating Instructions

  1. Prepare the Lawn: Mow your lawn to a normal height before dethatching or scarifying. Ensure the lawn is dry.
  2. Connect Power: Plug the unit into a suitable heavy-duty outdoor extension cord.
  3. Adjust Depth: Use the 5-position height adjustment lever located on the side of the unit to select the desired dethatching or scarifying depth. Start with a higher setting for initial passes and adjust lower if needed.
  4. Start the Unit: Press and hold the safety button, then pull the switch lever towards the handle to start the motor. Release the safety button once the motor starts.
  5. Operation: Push the unit forward at a steady pace, overlapping each pass slightly to ensure complete coverage. The unit is designed to pull itself forward slightly.
  6. Empty Collection Bag: Regularly check and empty the 8-gallon collection bag to maintain optimal performance. If not using the bag, rake up the thatch/debris after operation.
