Setup
- Unpack the Scanner: Carefully remove the scanner and its accessories from the packaging. Ensure all components (scanner, USB cable, manual) are present.
- Connect to Computer: Insert the USB cable of the scanner into an available USB port on your computer.
- Driver Installation: The scanner is plug-and-play. Your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux, Chromebook) should automatically detect and install the necessary drivers. No manual driver installation is typically required.
- Confirmation: Once connected, the scanner may emit a short beep or flash an indicator light to confirm successful connection and readiness for use.
Operating Instructions
- Prepare for Scanning: Open any application where you wish to input barcode data (e.g., Notepad, Word, Excel, POS software). Ensure the cursor is active in the desired input field.
- Aim the Laser: Hold the scanner with the scanning window facing the barcode. Position the scanner so that the red laser line crosses the entire barcode.
- Scan the Barcode: Press and hold the trigger button. The laser will activate. Once the barcode is successfully read, the scanner will typically emit a beep and/or flash an indicator light, and the barcode data will appear in your application.
- Adjust Distance: For optimal scanning, adjust the distance between the scanner and the barcode. The effective scanning range is 10-300mm.
- Multiple Scans: Release the trigger after each successful scan. To scan another barcode, repeat the process.
Maintenance
- Cleaning:
- Regularly clean the scanning window with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the scanner.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive materials, as these can damage the scanner's surface or optical components.
- Storage:
- Store the scanner in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Protect the scanner from drops and impacts.
- Cable Care: Avoid bending or twisting the USB cable excessively, as this can damage the internal wires.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Scanner does not power on or respond. | USB cable not properly connected or faulty USB port. | Ensure the USB cable is securely plugged into both the scanner and the computer. Try a different USB port. |
| Scanner beeps but no data appears on screen. | Incorrect input focus in application or application not ready. | Ensure the cursor is active in the desired text field of your application. Try scanning into a simple text editor like Notepad to verify basic functionality. |
| Cannot read certain barcodes. | Barcode damaged, poor print quality, or unsupported barcode type. | Ensure the barcode is clear and undamaged. Try scanning a different, known good barcode. Refer to the "Decode Capability" in specifications to confirm supported types. |
| Scanner reads slowly or intermittently. | Dirty scanning window or insufficient lighting. | Clean the scanning window. Ensure adequate lighting for the barcode. |
