Setup and First Use

Before first use, ensure all packaging materials are removed. Wash the inner cooking pan, inner lid, and accessories (spatula, measuring cup) thoroughly with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry completely. Place the rice cooker on a stable, flat surface away from direct heat or moisture.

The unit features a built-in retractable power cord for convenient storage and portability. Gently pull the cord from the back of the unit to extend it, and press the button to retract it. Avoid pulling the cord past the red marker to prevent damage.

Operating Instructions

The Zojirushi Micom Rice Cooker utilizes "fuzzy logic" technology to make micro-adjustments to cooking time and temperature, ensuring perfectly cooked rice every time. Follow these steps for optimal results:

1. Measure Rice: Use the included measuring cup to measure the desired amount of rice. Rinse the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear.
2. Add Water: Place the rinsed rice into the inner cooking pan. Add water up to the corresponding water level mark inside the pan for the type and amount of rice being cooked. The inner pan has clear markings for different rice types and quantities.

3. Select Menu Setting: Close the lid securely. Press the MENU button to cycle through the available cooking settings.
• White/Mixed Rice: Standard setting for white rice.
• Quick Cooking: For faster cooking of white rice, typically around 39 minutes.
• Sushi Rice: Optimized for sushi rice texture.
• Brown Rice: For cooking brown rice.
• GABA Brown: Activates brown rice by keeping the temperature at approximately 104°F (40°C) for 2 hours, increasing GABA content.
• Long Grain White: Specific setting for long-grain white rice, which cooks differently than short or medium-grain.
• Steel Cut Oatmeal: A dedicated menu setting for cooking steel-cut oatmeal with a shorter completion time than the regular Porridge setting.

4. Start Cooking: Press the START/REHEAT button to begin the cooking cycle. The cooker will automatically switch to Keep Warm mode once cooking is complete.
5. Timer Function: Use the TIMER button to set a delayed cooking start time, allowing you to have freshly cooked rice ready at a specific hour.

Care and Maintenance

Proper cleaning and maintenance ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Zojirushi rice cooker. Always unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.

• Inner Cooking Pan: The nonstick inner cooking pan should be hand washed with a soft sponge and mild dish soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that can damage the nonstick coating.
• Inner Lid: The detachable inner lid can be easily removed for thorough cleaning. Wash it by hand with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry completely before reattaching.
