This enables slower, controlled tilt movements or quicker repositioning as needed. Independent locks for tilt and 360-degree panning provide enhanced control over your gear's movement.

Key features include:

  • Optimized for video shooting and spotting scopes.
  • Fluidity selector for adjustable hard and soft tilt movements.
  • Maximum load capacity of 8.8 lb (4 kg).
  • Compact height of 3.9 inches (9.9 cm).
  • Includes two quick release plates for convenience.

Setup

1. Attaching the Fluid Head to a Tripod

Align the base of the MHXPRO-2W fluid head with the mounting screw on your tripod. Rotate the head clockwise until it is securely fastened. Ensure it is tightened sufficiently to prevent any wobbling during use.

Operating Instructions

1. Adjusting Fluidity (Tilt Movement)

The MHXPRO-2W features a fluidity selector for the tilt axis. This allows you to choose between two levels of resistance:

  • Hard Fluidity: Provides increased resistance for slower, more controlled tilt movements, ideal for precise adjustments.
  • Soft Fluidity: Offers less resistance, allowing for quicker and smoother repositioning of your camera.

To adjust, locate the fluidity selector knob on the side of the head and rotate it to your desired setting. Experiment with both settings to find what best suits your shooting style and equipment weight.

2. Using the Tilt Lock

The tilt lock secures the camera at a specific vertical angle. To engage the tilt lock, rotate the tilt locking knob clockwise until the camera is held firmly in position. To disengage and allow free tilt movement, rotate the knob counter-clockwise.

3. Using the Pan Lock

The pan lock secures the head's 360-degree horizontal rotation. To engage the pan lock, rotate the pan locking knob clockwise until the head can no longer rotate horizontally. To disengage and allow free panning, rotate the knob counter-clockwise.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Manfrotto MHXPRO-2W Fluid Head.

  • Cleaning: Regularly wipe down the head with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and debris. For stubborn dirt, use a slightly damp cloth and then dry thoroughly. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Lubrication: The fluid head is designed with internal lubrication. Do not attempt to disassemble the head for lubrication, as this can damage the internal components and void the warranty. If you experience stiffness or reduced fluidity, contact Manfrotto customer support.
  • Storage: Store the fluid head in a clean, dry environment, away from extreme temperatures and humidity.
  • Check Connections: Periodically check that all screws and knobs are securely tightened, especially the quick release plate screw and the pan bar locking knob.

Troubleshooting

Movement is not smooth or feels stiff:

  • Ensure the tilt and pan locks are fully disengaged.
  • Check the fluidity selector setting. If set to 'Hard', switch to 'Soft' to see if the movement improves.
  • Verify that the camera's weight does not exceed the head's maximum load capacity (8.8 lb / 4 kg). Overloading can affect fluidity.
  • If the issue persists, contact Manfrotto customer support for assistance. Do not attempt to disassemble the head.

Camera is not secure on the quick release plate:

  • Ensure the quick release plate screw is tightly fastened to the camera.
  • Confirm that the quick release lever on the fluid head is fully closed and locked after inserting the plate.
  • Inspect the quick release plate and receiver for any damage or obstructions.

Pan bar feels loose:

  • Tighten the pan bar locking knob firmly.
  • Ensure the pan bar is fully inserted into its receptacle.
