  • Normal Use: The battery provides power to the stairlift. Ensure the stairlift is regularly connected to its charging station when not in use to maintain optimal battery life.
  • Charging: The battery is designed to be continuously charged in a float application (like a stairlift) or cycled. Adhere to the charging parameters specified on the battery label and by your stairlift manufacturer.

6. Maintenance

The SigmasTek SP12-7.5HR is a maintenance-free battery, meaning it does not require water additions or electrolyte checks. However, some general care practices can help ensure its longevity:

  • Keep Clean: Periodically inspect the battery and terminals for dirt, dust, or corrosion. Clean with a dry cloth. Do not use solvents or harsh chemicals.
  • Terminal Connections: Ensure terminal connections remain tight. Loose connections can lead to poor performance or overheating.
  • Temperature: Operate and store the battery within recommended temperature ranges. Extreme temperatures can reduce battery life.
  • Storage: If storing the battery for an extended period, ensure it is fully charged and store it in a cool, dry place. Recharge periodically (every 3-6 months) to prevent deep discharge.

7. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your stairlift's power, consider the following basic troubleshooting steps related to the battery:

  • No Power/Low Power:
    • Verify that the stairlift is properly connected to its charging station.
    • Check all battery terminal connections for tightness and corrosion.
    • Allow sufficient time for the battery to charge.
  • Battery Not Charging:
    • Ensure the charging source (e.g., wall outlet, stairlift charger) is functional.
    • Inspect the charging cables for damage.

If problems persist after these checks, consult your stairlift's user manual or contact a qualified service technician.
