Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your sterilizer.

  • Cleaning the Base and Heating Plate: Wipe all surfaces of the base and heating plate with a damp cloth or sponge. Ensure the unit is unplugged and completely cool before cleaning.
  • Frequency: Clean the sterilizer at least once a week when in regular use.
  • Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits from water may accumulate on the heating plate. To descale, mix 2 oz (60 ml) of white vinegar with 4 oz (120 ml) of distilled water. Pour the mixture onto the heating plate and let it stand for 30 minutes. Do not run a cycle with the descaling solution. Pour out the solution and rinse the heating plate thoroughly with clean water.
  • DO NOT IMMERSE THE BASE UNIT IN WATER.
  • Dishwasher Safe: The removable bottle tray, accessory tray, measuring cup, and tongs are not specified as dishwasher safe. Hand wash these components with warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Dr. Brown's Deluxe Electric Sterilizer, please consider the following:

  • Unit Not Turning On: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into both the unit and a working electrical outlet.
  • Sterilization Cycle Not Starting: Verify that the lid is properly closed and latched. Ensure sufficient water has been added to the heating plate.
  • Excessive Mineral Buildup: Perform the descaling procedure as outlined in the Maintenance section. Using distilled water regularly can help prevent this.
