Important Safeguards

  • Use only as directed. Keep out of reach of children.
  • Avoid use if you have glycerin allergies or are allergic to hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA). For external use only.
  • If a hydrogel pad becomes cloudy or milky, please discard and use a new one.
  • Reusable for 24 hours.
  • If nipples are cracked, bleeding, or have a burning sensation, contact your breastfeeding specialist or healthcare provider.
  • Do not use in case of known allergies to any of the ingredients.

Setup and Preparation

Before using the Medela Tender Care Hydrogel Pads, ensure your hands are clean. Visually inspect the sterile packaging of the device for any damage before opening. Do not use if the packaging is damaged.

  1. Open the sterile pouch and carefully remove the Hydrogel Pad from its plastic liner. Avoid touching the gel side with your fingers.
  2. To reduce stickiness and improve soothing, briefly pass the exposed gel pad under a cool stream of water (1-2 seconds), shake off excess water, and set aside for 2 minutes.

The hydrogel pad is a clear, soft, and flexible gel material, approximately 5x5 inches, designed to conform to the breast area for maximum comfort and relief.

Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for effective use of your hydrogel pads:

  1. Gently place the gel side of the pad directly over your nipple.
  2. Prior to breastfeeding, remove the gel pad and place it back on the clear liner.
  3. Gently wash your breast with warm water and pat dry. Then, breastfeeding may begin.
  4. After breastfeeding, wash the pad after each use, then re-apply the gel pad.

Maintenance and Care

Proper care ensures the longevity and effectiveness of your hydrogel pads:

  • Store Hydrogel Pads in a cool, dry place.
  • The pad can be used up to 24 hours.
  • If the pad becomes cloudy or milky, or if the recommended time period for use is exceeded, discard it to prevent contamination and use a new one.
  • To maintain hygiene, always wash the pad with warm water after each use before re-applying.

Troubleshooting

If you experience any of the following, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional:

  • If nipples are cracked or bleeding.
  • If you experience a burning sensation.
  • If you suspect an allergic reaction to glycerin or hydroxyethylmethacrylate (HEMA).
