Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the safe and efficient use of your Sony CFD-S70 Stereo CD/Cassette Boombox. This versatile audio system offers full-function stereo sound with multiple playback options, including CD, CD-R/RW, MP3 CD, cassette tape, and FM/AM radio. Setup

1. Power Connection:

   Connect the supplied AC power cord to the AC IN jack on the rear of the unit and then to a wall outlet. Alternatively, for portable use, insert 6 R14/Size C dry batteries (not included) into the battery compartment located on the bottom of the unit. Ensure correct polarity (+/-) when inserting batteries.

2. Antenna Adjustment:

   For optimal FM radio reception, fully extend the telescopic antenna. For AM reception, rotate the unit itself to achieve the best signal.

3. Initial Power On:

   Press the POWER button to turn on the unit. The display will illuminate.

1. CD Playback:
   • Open the CD compartment cover.
   • Place a CD, CD-R/RW, or MP3 CD with the label side up.
   • Close the CD compartment cover.
   • Press the CD PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback.
   • Use the SKIP buttons (◀◀ / ►►) to navigate tracks.
   • Press the SHUFFLE or PROGRAM buttons for respective playback modes.
2. Cassette Playback and Recording:
   • Open the cassette deck door.
   • Insert a cassette tape.
   • Press the PLAY button to begin playback.
   • To record, ensure the desired audio source (CD, radio, or AUX IN) is playing, then press the RECORD button on the cassette deck.
3. FM/AM Radio:
   • Press the FM/AM button to select the desired band.
   • Use the TUNE +/- buttons to manually tune to a station.
   • To store favorite stations, tune to the desired station, then press and hold one of the FAVORITE RADIO STATIONS (1-3) buttons until the display confirms storage.
4. Aux Audio Input:

   Connect your digital music player or other audio device to the AUDIO IN jack using a 3.5mm audio cable. Select the AUDIO IN source on the boombox to play audio from your connected device.
5. MEGA BASS Function:

   Press the MEGA BASS button to activate or deactivate the bass boost circuitry, enhancing low-frequency sound performance.

6. Volume Control:

   Adjust the VOLUME knob to your desired listening level.

Maintenance

• Cleaning:

  Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. For the CD lens, use a specialized CD lens cleaner. For the cassette deck, regularly clean the head and pinch rollers with a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

• Battery Replacement:

  When operating on batteries, replace all 6 C-size batteries when the power indicator dims or the unit's performance degrades.

• Safety Precautions:

  Unplug the apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time to prevent damage.

Troubleshooting

• No Power:

  Ensure the AC power cord is securely connected to both the unit and a working wall outlet. If using batteries, check that they are inserted correctly and are not depleted.
