Maintenance
Battery Care
To prolong the life of your NiMH rechargeable battery packs:
- Fully charge new battery packs before first use.
- Avoid overcharging or completely draining the batteries frequently.
- Store radios and batteries in a cool, dry place when not in use.
- If a battery pack fails or shows reduced performance, it can be replaced by accessing the battery compartment.
Cleaning
Clean the radio's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the charging port cover is closed when not charging to prevent dust and moisture ingress.
Troubleshooting
No Power
- Check if the batteries are correctly installed and fully charged.
- If using AA batteries, ensure they are fresh.
Poor Range or Communication
- Verify that all radios are on the same channel and privacy code.
- Move to an area with fewer obstructions (e.g., buildings, dense foliage).
- Check for sources of electromagnetic interference.
- Ensure batteries are adequately charged.
Short Battery Life
- Ensure batteries are fully charged before use.
- NiMH batteries may degrade over time and require replacement.
- Consider using high-quality AA batteries if not using the rechargeable pack.
