4. Installation Instructions
Tools Required: Phillips head screwdriver, flathead screwdriver, wire strippers, electrical tape, safety glasses.
- Turn Off Power: Locate the circuit breaker or fuse box that controls the power to the light fixture location. Turn off the power completely to prevent electrical shock.
- Remove Old Fixture (if applicable): Carefully remove any existing light fixture. Disconnect the wiring and remove the mounting bracket.
- Prepare Wiring: Ensure that the electrical wires from the junction box are stripped approximately 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) at the ends.
- Mounting Bracket Installation: Attach the fixture's mounting bracket to the junction box in the ceiling using the provided screws. Ensure it is securely fastened.
- Wire Connections:
- Connect the black wire from the fixture to the black (hot) wire from the junction box using a wire nut.
- Connect the white wire from the fixture to the white (neutral) wire from the junction box using a wire nut.
- Connect the green or bare copper (ground) wire from the fixture to the green or bare copper (ground) wire from the junction box using a wire nut.
- Ensure all wire nuts are tightened securely and no bare wire is exposed. Wrap electrical tape around each wire nut connection for added security.
- Secure Fixture: Carefully tuck all wires into the junction box. Align the fixture with the mounting bracket and secure it in place using the provided screws or twist-lock mechanism, depending on the design. Ensure the fixture is flush with the ceiling.
- Restore Power: Once the fixture is securely installed and all connections are checked, restore power at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
- Test Fixture: Turn on the light switch to test the new fixture.
