KitchenAid Stand Mixer Attachment, KSMPRA 3-Piece Pasta Roller & Cutter Set

Model: KSMPRA | Brand: KitchenAid

Introduction

The KitchenAid KSMPRA 3-Piece Pasta Roller & Cutter Set is designed to simplify the process of making fresh, homemade pasta. This attachment set is powered by your KitchenAid Stand Mixer (sold separately), eliminating the need for manual cranking and making pasta preparation quick and efficient.

The set includes a Pasta Roller for creating sheets of dough, a Spaghetti Cutter for classic thin noodles, and a Fettuccine Cutter for wider, flat noodles. All components are crafted from durable stainless steel to ensure consistent performance and longevity.

Setup

To set up your pasta attachment, ensure your KitchenAid Stand Mixer is unplugged. Locate the attachment hub on the front of your mixer. Loosen the attachment hub knob by turning it counter-clockwise. Insert the attachment shaft into the hub, ensuring the power shaft fits into the square hub socket. Rotate the attachment back and forth slightly if needed until it slides completely into the hub. Tighten the attachment hub knob clockwise until the attachment is securely fastened.

For initial use, it is recommended to attach the Pasta Roller first.

Operating Instructions

Pasta Roller

The Pasta Roller allows you to create 6-inch wide sheets of fresh pasta dough with adjustable thickness. It features 8 thickness settings, enabling you to achieve your desired sheet thickness for various pasta types like lasagna, ravioli, or for subsequent cutting into noodles.

Begin with the thickest setting (setting 1) and gradually decrease the thickness with each pass. Lightly dust your pasta dough with flour before feeding it through the roller to prevent sticking and ensure smooth operation.

Spaghetti Cutter

Once your pasta sheets have reached the desired thinness using the Pasta Roller, detach the roller and attach the Spaghetti Cutter. Feed the rolled pasta sheets through the Spaghetti Cutter to produce classic thin spaghetti noodles.

Fettuccine Cutter

For wider noodles, use the Fettuccine Cutter. After rolling your pasta sheets to the desired thickness, replace the Pasta Roller with the Fettuccine Cutter. Feed the sheets through to create uniform fettuccine noodles.

Maintenance & Cleaning

The stainless steel rollers and cutters are designed for consistent performance. To maintain their condition and ensure longevity, proper cleaning is essential. These attachments are NOT dishwasher safe.

After use, allow any residual pasta dough to dry completely on the attachments. Once dry, gently tap the attachments to dislodge larger pieces of dough. Use the included cleaning brush to remove any remaining dough or flour from the rollers and cutters. The brush is specifically designed to reach into crevices and ensure thorough cleaning without damaging the components.

Do not immerse the attachments in water or place them in a dishwasher. Exposure to water can cause corrosion and damage the internal mechanisms.

Troubleshooting

  • Dough Tearing or Uneven Sheets: Ensure your pasta dough has the correct consistency. If it's too dry, it may tear; if too wet, it may stick. Lightly dust the dough with flour before each pass through the roller. Gradually adjust the thickness settings, starting from the thickest and moving to thinner settings one step at a time.
  • Pasta Sticking to Cutters: Ensure pasta sheets are adequately floured before feeding them into the cutters. If the dough is too sticky, it may clump in the cutters. Allow freshly cut pasta to dry slightly on a floured surface before cooking or storing.
  • Attachments Not Fitting Securely: Double-check that the attachment hub knob on your KitchenAid Stand Mixer is fully loosened before inserting the attachment. Ensure the shaft is aligned correctly with the square hub socket. Tighten the knob firmly once inserted.
