Product Overview

The GPX C253B is a PLL dual alarm clock radio designed for reliable timekeeping and audio playback. It features a large 1.2-inch red LED display for clear visibility, dual alarm functionality allowing wake-up to either radio or buzzer, and digital AM/FM radio with station memory presets. An auxiliary input is included for connecting external audio devices.

Setup

Power Connection:

1. Connect the supplied AC/DC power adapter to the DC input jack located on the back of the unit.
2. Plug the power adapter into a standard wall outlet (AC 120V ~ 60Hz).
3. The unit will power on and the display will illuminate.

Battery Backup (Not Included):

This unit requires 2 "AAA" batteries (not included) for battery backup. The battery backup system maintains the time and alarm settings during a power outage. The display will not illuminate during battery backup mode.

1. Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the unit.
2. Insert 2 "AAA" batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
3. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Antenna Setup:

• FM Antenna: Extend the built-in FM wire antenna fully for optimal FM reception. Adjust its position for best signal.
• AM Antenna: The unit has a built-in AM antenna. For best AM reception, rotate the unit to find the strongest signal.

Operating Instructions

Setting the Clock Time:

1. In standby mode, press and hold the TIME SET button until the hour digits begin to flash.
2. Press the HOUR button repeatedly to adjust the hour. Observe the PM indicator for correct AM/PM setting.
3. Press the MINUTE button repeatedly to adjust the minute.
4. Press the TIME SET button again to confirm and save the time.

Setting the Alarm:

This unit features two independent alarms (Alarm 1 and Alarm 2).

1. Press and hold the ALARM 1 SET or ALARM 2 SET button until the alarm hour digits flash.
2. Press the HOUR button to set the desired alarm hour.
3. Press the MINUTE button to set the desired alarm minute.
4. Press the ALARM 1 SET or ALARM 2 SET button again to select the alarm source: BUZZER or RADIO. The corresponding indicator will light up.
5. Press the ALARM 1 SET or ALARM 2 SET button one more time to confirm and save the alarm setting.

Turning Alarms On/Off:

• Press the ALARM 1 ON/OFF or ALARM 2 ON/OFF button to toggle the respective alarm on or off. The alarm indicator will illuminate when active.

Radio Operation:

1. Press the POWER button to turn on the radio.
2. Press the BAND button to select between FM and AM bands.
3. Press the TUNE + or TUNE - buttons to manually tune to a desired frequency. Press and hold for auto-scan.
4. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME + or VOLUME - buttons.

Setting Radio Presets:

1. Tune to the desired radio station.
2. Press and hold the MEM (Memory) button until "P01" (or next available preset number) flashes on the display.
3. Press the PRESET + or PRESET - buttons to select the desired preset number (P01-P10).
4. Press the MEM button again to save the station to the selected preset.
5. To recall a preset station, press the PRESET + or PRESET - buttons briefly.

Snooze Function:

• When the alarm sounds, press the SNOOZE button to temporarily silence the alarm for approximately 9 minutes. The alarm will sound again after the snooze period.

Sleep Function:

• While the radio is playing, press the SLEEP button repeatedly to cycle through sleep timer options (e.g., 90, 60, 30, 15 minutes, OFF). The radio will automatically turn off after the selected time.

Dimmer Control:

• Press the DIMMER button to adjust the brightness of the LED display. Cycle through available brightness levels.

Using the Audio Input:

• Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the AUX IN jack on the back of the unit.
• Connect the other end of the cable to the headphone jack or audio output of your external audio device (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player).
• Press the MODE or FUNCTION button (if available, otherwise it might auto-switch or require radio to be off) to switch to AUX mode.
• Play audio from your external device. Adjust volume on both the external device and the clock radio.

Maintenance

Cleaning:

• Before cleaning, unplug the unit from the power outlet.
• Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Ensure no liquid enters the unit.

General Care:

• Avoid placing the unit in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in excessively dusty, humid, or vibrating environments.
