Operating Instructions

Battery Compatibility

The EBL Smart Rapid Battery Charger is designed for wide compatibility, supporting the following rechargeable battery types:

  • 3.7V/3.6V Li-ion (Lithium-ion) IMR/INR/ICR Batteries: 10440, 14500, 14650, RCR16340, 16650, 17500, 17650, 17670, 18350, 18490, 18500, 18650, 20700, 21700, 21750, 22700, 26650, 26700.
  • Ni-MH/Ni-Cd Batteries: AA, AAA, C.

Charging Process and LED Indicators

Upon inserting a battery, the charger automatically detects the battery type (Li-ion or Ni-MH/Ni-Cd) and initiates the appropriate charging cycle. The intelligent LED indicators provide real-time status updates:

  • No-Load/Reversed Battery: If no battery is inserted or a battery is inserted with incorrect polarity, the 1st LED light will illuminate.
  • Ni-MH/Ni-Cd Battery Detection: The 2nd LED light will flash for 20 seconds, then begin charging.
  • Li-ion Battery Detection: The 3rd LED light will flash for 20 seconds, then begin charging.
  • Charging Progress: The LED lights indicate the charge level:
    • One LED lit: Battery charge < 33%
    • Two LEDs lit: Battery charge ≥ 33%
    • Three LEDs lit: Battery charge ≥ 66%
    • All three LEDs lit steadily: Battery is fully charged.

Fast Charging Capability

The charger features rapid charging, with a maximum current of up to 2000mA for a single lithium battery (specifically in channel 2). For two lithium batteries, the current is 1000mA, and for two Ni-MH/Ni-Cd batteries, it is 500mA. This design aims to optimize charging time.

0V Activation Function

The charger includes a 0V activation function, which can reactivate over-discharged rechargeable batteries equipped with protection boards. This feature helps to restore certain batteries that might otherwise be considered unusable.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the charger from the power source before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the charger in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Handling: Avoid dropping the charger or subjecting it to strong impacts.

Troubleshooting

  • Charger not turning on: Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the charger and a functional 5V/2A power source. Try a different USB cable or power adapter.
  • Battery not charging:
    • Check battery polarity. Ensure the positive (+) and negative (-) ends match the charger's markings.
    • Verify the battery is rechargeable and compatible with the charger.
    • If the 1st LED is lit, it indicates a no-load or reversed battery. Reinsert correctly or replace the battery.
    • If the battery is severely over-discharged, the 0V activation function may attempt to revive it. If unsuccessful, the battery may be permanently damaged.
  • Slow charging: Ensure your power adapter provides sufficient current (recommended 5V/2A). Lower current adapters will result in slower charging times.

Safety Features

The EBL Smart Rapid Battery Charger incorporates multiple safety protections:

  • Short-circuit Protection: Prevents damage from short circuits.
  • Over-charge Protection: Stops charging once batteries are full to prevent overcharging.
  • Over-current Protection: Regulates current to prevent excessive flow.
  • Over-voltage Protection: Safeguards against voltage surges.
  • Over-heating Protection: Monitors temperature to prevent overheating.
  • Reverse Battery Protection: Detects and prevents damage from incorrectly inserted batteries.
