3. Installation Guide

This raceway features a pre-applied adhesive backing for straightforward installation. Follow these steps for optimal results:

  1. Prepare the Surface: Ensure the mounting surface is clean, dry, and free of dust or grease. A smooth, non-porous surface is ideal for maximum adhesion.
  2. Measure and Cut: Unroll the raceway and measure the required length for your cable run. Use a sharp utility knife or appropriate cutting tool to cut the raceway to size. The roll design allows for precise length customization.
  3. Peel Adhesive Backing: Carefully peel off the protective liner from the adhesive strip on the back of the raceway.
  4. Apply Raceway: Press the raceway firmly onto the desired surface, applying even pressure along its entire length to ensure good contact with the adhesive. For long runs, apply section by section to avoid misalignment.
  5. Secure (Optional): While the adhesive is strong, for very long runs, heavy cables, or uneven surfaces, additional securing methods such as small screws (not included) may be used. Ensure screws do not interfere with the internal channel.

4. Usage

Once the raceway is securely installed, cables can be inserted and concealed. The raceway features a two-part design: a base that adheres to the surface and a cover that snaps into place.

  1. Open the Raceway: Gently separate the top cover from the base. The raceway is designed to be opened along its length.
  2. Insert Cables: Place your cables neatly within the channel of the raceway base. Ensure cables are not twisted or overly compressed. The Small (375) series is suitable for concealing 1-2 standard Cat6 cables or similar small wires.
  3. Close the Raceway: Align the top cover with the base and press firmly along the length until it snaps securely into place. Due to the durable PVC material, a firm, even pressure may be required to ensure the cover locks properly. If difficulty is encountered, gently warming the raceway with a hairdryer (on a low setting) can make the material slightly more pliable for easier closure.

5. Maintenance

The Electriduct Surface Cable Raceway requires minimal maintenance. Regular cleaning and optional painting can help maintain its appearance.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the raceway with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. Avoid abrasive cleaners that may damage the PVC surface.
  • Painting: The raceway is paintable with a latex-based paint. This allows it to be matched to your wall or ceiling color for a seamless blend. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before painting.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Raceway Not Sticking:
    • Ensure the surface was thoroughly cleaned and dry before application.
    • Apply firm, consistent pressure along the entire length of the raceway during installation.
    • For textured or porous surfaces, the adhesive may not be sufficient. Consider using additional mounting methods like small screws or a stronger adhesive specifically designed for your surface type.
  • Difficulty Closing the Raceway Cover:
    • Ensure cables are neatly arranged and not overfilling the channel. Overfilling can prevent the cover from snapping shut.
    • Apply firm, even pressure along the length of the cover.
    • If the raceway has been stored rolled for a long time, it may retain some curvature. Gently warm the raceway with a hairdryer (on a low setting) to make it more pliable, then attempt to close the cover.

7. Safety Information

The Electriduct Surface Cable Raceway is manufactured from UL 94-VO compliant and flame-retardant PVC. While designed for safety, please observe the following:

  • Do not exceed the internal capacity of the raceway. Overfilling can cause stress on the material and potentially lead to damage or improper closure.
  • Ensure all electrical work is performed by qualified personnel and adheres to local electrical codes.
  • Keep out of reach of children and pets during installation to prevent accidental ingestion of small parts or injury from tools.
