Setup and First Use

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the crepe maker and all accessories from the packaging. Retain packaging for future storage if desired.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wipe the non-stick cooking plate with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Rinse with a clean damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Do not immerse the unit in water.
  3. Placement: Place the crepe maker on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface, away from walls or other heat-sensitive objects. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the appliance.
  4. Seasoning (Optional but Recommended): For optimal non-stick performance, lightly coat the cooking plate with a small amount of cooking oil. Heat the appliance on a low setting for 5-10 minutes, then unplug and let it cool. Wipe off any excess oil with a paper towel.

Operating Instructions

  1. Prepare Batter: Prepare your desired crepe batter according to your recipe.
  2. Plug In: Plug the crepe maker into a suitable electrical outlet.
  3. Power On and Preheat: Turn the On/Off switch to the "On" position. The indicator light will illuminate. Set the adjustable thermostat to your desired temperature. Allow the crepe maker to preheat for approximately 5-10 minutes until the indicator light signals it has reached the set temperature (or stops glowing if it's a cycle indicator).
  4. Apply Batter: Pour a small amount of crepe batter onto the center of the hot non-stick plate.
  5. Spread Batter: Immediately use the provided wooden spreader (Figure 2) to spread the batter evenly in a circular motion from the center outwards, forming a thin, round crepe.
  6. Cook Crepe: Cook for 1-2 minutes on one side, or until the edges begin to crisp and the surface appears set.
  7. Flip Crepe: Using a non-metallic spatula, carefully flip the crepe and cook for another 30-60 seconds on the other side, or until golden brown.
  8. Remove Crepe: Slide the cooked crepe onto a plate. Repeat the process for remaining batter.
  9. Power Off: Once finished, turn the On/Off switch to the "Off" position and unplug the appliance from the outlet.

Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper cleaning and maintenance will extend the life of your HARPER HCE10 Crêpière.

  1. Cool Down: Always allow the appliance to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Unplug: Ensure the crepe maker is unplugged from the power outlet.
  3. Clean Cooking Plate: Wipe the non-stick cooking plate with a soft, damp cloth or sponge. For stubborn residue, use a small amount of mild dish soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or metal utensils, as these can damage the non-stick coating.
  4. Clean Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the appliance with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or immerse the unit in water.
  5. Dry Thoroughly: Ensure all parts are completely dry before storing or next use.
  6. Storage: Store the crepe maker in a dry place. Utilize the integrated cord storage feature to keep the power cord tidy.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your crepe maker, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Appliance does not turn on:
    • Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
    • Ensure the On/Off switch is in the "On" position.
  • Crepes stick to the plate:
    • Ensure the plate was properly seasoned before first use.
    • Lightly grease the plate with a small amount of oil or butter before each crepe, especially if the non-stick coating is older.
    • Ensure the plate is sufficiently hot before adding batter.
  • Crepes are unevenly cooked:
    • Ensure the batter is spread quickly and evenly across the plate using the wooden spreader.
    • Verify the crepe maker is on a flat, level surface.
    • Allow adequate preheating time.

If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact customer support.
