Step-by-Step Guide
- Prepare the Vehicle: Park the vehicle on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Safely raise the front of the vehicle and support it with jack stands.
- Access the Mount: Remove the windshield wiper arms and the cowl panel to gain access to the engine bay. Remove the engine cover.
- Remove Air Intake and Battery: Disconnect the air intake hose and mass airflow sensor. Loosen the air intake clamps and remove the air box. Disconnect both battery terminals, remove the battery hold-down, and then remove the battery and its tray.
- Support Transmission: Place a floor jack with a block of wood underneath the transmission to support its weight.
- Remove Old Mount: Disconnect any wires or hoses attached to the transmission mount bracket. Remove the bolts securing the transmission mount bracket to the vehicle and then remove the bracket. Remove the main bolt securing the transmission mount to the transmission. Carefully remove the old transmission mount.
- Install New Mount: Position the new Anchor 3238 Transmission Mount into place. Ensure it aligns correctly with the mounting points. Install the main transmission mount bolt and torque it to 109 ft-lb.
- Reinstall Bracket: Reinstall the transmission mount bracket and secure it with its nuts. Torque these nuts to 35 ft-lb. Reconnect any wires or hoses that were detached from the bracket.
- Reinstall Battery and Air Intake: Reinstall the battery tray, secure it with its bolts, and then place the battery back into the tray. Connect the positive and negative battery terminals. Reinstall the battery cover. Reinstall the air box, connect the mass airflow sensor, and reattach the air intake hose. Tighten all air intake clamps and secure any remaining bolts.
- Final Assembly: Reinstall the engine cover. Reinstall the cowl panel and secure it with its clips. Reinstall the windshield wiper arms and their nuts. Lower the vehicle safely.
Maintenance
Regularly inspect your transmission mount for signs of wear, cracking, or excessive movement. A worn mount can lead to increased vibration, noise, and potential damage to other drivetrain components. Replace the mount if any signs of degradation are observed.
Troubleshooting
- Excessive Vibration: If you experience unusual vibrations after installation, recheck all mounting bolts for proper torque. Ensure the mount is correctly seated and not contacting other components.
- Clunking Noises: Clunking sounds, especially during gear changes or acceleration, may indicate loose mounting bolts or an improperly installed mount. Re-inspect the installation.
- Difficulty Shifting: While less common, a misaligned or faulty mount can sometimes affect shifting. Verify proper alignment and installation.
