5.0 Operating Instructions

The Fosmon 3-Port HDMI Switch offers both automatic and manual switching capabilities:

5.1 Automatic Switching

The switch is designed to automatically detect and switch to a newly activated HDMI source. For example, if you turn on a game console connected to Input 1 while other devices are off, the switch will automatically select Input 1.

Note:

Automatic switching works best with devices that do not output continuous voltage over the HDMI port when turned off. If a device outputs a continuous signal even when "off" (e.g., in standby mode), the switch may not automatically switch away from it. Powering on a device gives it output priority over other devices. If the current output device is turned off, priority is given to the next active device on the switch.

5.2 Manual Switching

To manually switch between connected HDMI sources, press the "Select" button located on the top of the switch. Each press will cycle through the available inputs (Input 1, Input 2, Input 3).

6.0 Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your HDMI switch:

  • Keep the device in a dry, dust-free environment.
  • Avoid exposing the switch to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight.
  • Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Ensure HDMI cables are securely connected to prevent signal loss.

7.0 Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Fosmon 3-Port HDMI Switch, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No picture/signal on TV.Insufficient power to the switch; incorrect input selected; loose cable connections; incompatible HDCP version.Ensure all connected devices are powered on and providing sufficient power. Press the "Select" button to cycle through inputs. Check all HDMI cable connections. Note that the switch may not be compatible with devices requiring HDCP 2.2.
Automatic switching not working.Source device outputs continuous signal even when off.Manually switch inputs using the "Select" button. Ensure devices are fully powered off if automatic switching is desired.
Picture quality issues (flickering, distortion).Faulty HDMI cable; resolution/refresh rate incompatibility; long cable run.Try a different HDMI cable. Ensure your display and source device support the selected resolution and refresh rate (e.g., 4K@30Hz). Use high-quality, shorter HDMI cables if possible.
