Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and effective use of your Chicco Microwave Steam Sterilizer. Please read all instructions carefully before first use and retain this manual for future reference.
The Chicco Microwave Steam Sterilizer uses the natural power of steam to sterilize baby bottles, nipples, pacifiers, and other feeding items, eliminating 99.9% of common household germs. This method is chemical-free and suitable for most microwave ovens.
Important Safety Information
- Always ensure the sterilizer is placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
- Use only tap water for sterilization. Do not use distilled water or other liquids as this may affect performance.
- Do not open the sterilizer immediately after the cycle. Allow it to cool for at least 5 minutes to avoid steam burns.
- Keep out of reach of children. This is not a toy.
- Ensure the microwave oven is clean and free from food debris before use.
- Check that the sterilizer fits correctly inside your microwave oven and that the turntable can rotate freely.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents on the sterilizer.
- Always use the provided tongs to remove hot items from the sterilizer.

Operating Instructions
- Prepare Items: Thoroughly wash all bottles, nipples, pacifiers, and other items to be sterilized. Remove any milk or food residue.
- Add Water: Pour 200ml (approximately 7 fl oz) of tap water into the base of the sterilizer. Do not exceed the maximum fill line.
- Load Items: Place bottles upside down in the designated slots in the removable basket. Arrange nipples, rings, and other small items in the remaining spaces. The sterilizer can hold up to 4 wide-mouth or 5 regular bottles and their parts.
- Secure Lid: Place the lid securely on the sterilizer.
- Microwave: Place the sterilizer in the center of your microwave oven turntable. Ensure the turntable can rotate freely.
- Set Time: Set the microwave power and time according to the table below. Cooking times may vary based on microwave wattage.
Microwave Wattage Sterilization Time 800W - 1000W 5 minutes 500W - 750W 8 minutes - Cool Down: After the microwave cycle is complete, allow the sterilizer to cool down for at least 5 minutes before opening. This allows the steam to dissipate and prevents burns.
- Remove Items: Carefully remove the lid, ensuring steam escapes away from your face. Use the provided tongs to remove sterilized items.
- Storage: Items remain sterile for up to 24 hours if the lid is not removed after sterilization.

Maintenance and Cleaning
- Daily Cleaning: After each use, wash the sterilizer base, basket, lid, and tongs in warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and dry.
- Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up on the heating plate at the bottom of the sterilizer. To descale, mix 50ml of white vinegar with 100ml of water and pour into the base. Let it stand for 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Do not microwave with descaling solution.
- Storage: Store the clean and dry sterilizer in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Sterilizer not producing steam. | Insufficient water in the base. | Ensure 200ml of tap water is added to the base. |
| Items are still wet after sterilization. | This is a steam sterilizer, not a dryer. Some moisture is normal. | Allow items to air dry or use a clean, dry cloth. Ensure proper cooling time. |
| White/brown deposits on the heating plate. | Limescale buildup from tap water. | Descale the unit as per the "Maintenance and Cleaning" section. |
| Sterilizer does not fit in microwave. | Microwave interior dimensions are too small. | Verify your microwave's internal dimensions against the sterilizer's product dimensions (11.3 x 9.5 x 6.6 inches). |
