Setup: Refilling the Lighter
Your Gibson Pipe Wrench Lighter is refillable with standard butane gas. Use only high-quality butane fuel for optimal performance and longevity.
- Prepare: Turn the lighter upside down. Locate the refill valve at the bottom of the lighter.
- Bleed Air (Optional but Recommended): Before refilling, use a small tool (like a pen tip) to press the refill valve to release any residual air from the tank. This helps ensure a full refill.
- Refill: Firmly press the nozzle of the butane gas canister vertically into the refill valve. Hold for approximately 5-10 seconds. You may need to repeat this process 2-3 times to ensure a full tank.
- Wait: After refilling, wait at least 2-3 minutes before attempting to ignite the lighter. This allows the gas to stabilize and reach room temperature.

Operating Instructions
- Ignition: Hold the lighter with the wrench head facing upwards. Locate the ignition slider on the side of the wrench handle. Firmly push the slider upwards with your thumb until the flame ignites. Due to the child-resistant design, this action may require significant force.
- Adjust Flame: The flame height can be adjusted. Locate the flame adjustment screw, typically near the refill valve at the bottom. Use a small screwdriver or similar tool to turn it towards '+' for a larger flame or '-' for a smaller flame.
- Extinguish: Release the ignition slider to extinguish the flame. Ensure the flame is completely out before storing.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the lighter with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and grime. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the lighter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure it is out of reach of children.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Lighter does not ignite. | No fuel, air in tank, or ignition mechanism issue. | Refill with butane (see Setup). Bleed air from tank before refilling. Ensure ignition slider is pushed firmly. |
| Weak or inconsistent flame. | Low fuel, incorrect flame adjustment, or air in tank. | Refill with butane. Adjust flame height (see Operating). Bleed air from tank. |
| Ignition slider is hard to push. | Child-resistant mechanism. | This is normal for child-resistant lighters. Apply firm, consistent pressure upwards. |
