4. Setup and Installation

The K-Rain RPS75 is designed for easy installation and can often replace existing PGP and PGP Ultra cans.

4.1. Preparing the Installation Site

  1. Locate the desired installation point for the sprinkler. Ensure it is clear of obstructions and provides optimal coverage for the area.
  2. Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the sprinkler body, ensuring the top of the sprinkler will be flush with the ground level when installed.
  3. Clear any debris or soil from the existing pipe connection.

4.2. Connecting the Sprinkler

  1. Ensure the water supply to the irrigation line is completely shut off.
  2. Thread the RPS75 sprinkler onto the 3/4-inch riser or pipe connection. Hand-tighten first, then use a wrench to secure it, being careful not to overtighten.
  3. Backfill the hole with soil, ensuring the top of the sprinkler is level with the surrounding ground.

4.3. Nozzle Selection and Installation

The RPS75 comes with a variety of nozzles to customize spray distance and flow rate. Select the appropriate nozzle based on your landscape's needs.

  1. Pull up the riser assembly by hand or using the adjustment tool.
  2. Locate the nozzle retention screw on the top of the sprinkler. Loosen it with a flat-head screwdriver.
  3. Insert the desired nozzle into the nozzle opening. Ensure it is seated firmly.
  4. Tighten the nozzle retention screw.

5. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the RPS75 allows for easy adjustment of its spray pattern.

5.1. Adjusting the Arc

The arc can be adjusted from 40 to 360 degrees.

  1. Turn on the water supply to the sprinkler.
  2. Identify the fixed left stop. This is the non-adjustable side of the arc.
  3. Insert the adjustment tool into the arc adjustment slot on the top of the sprinkler.
  4. Turn the tool clockwise to increase the arc or counter-clockwise to decrease the arc. The sprinkler will rotate to indicate the current arc setting.

5.2. Adjusting the Radius (Spray Distance)

The radius can be adjusted from 22 to 51 feet depending on the installed nozzle and water pressure.

  1. Insert the adjustment tool into the radius adjustment slot (usually marked with a minus/plus sign) on the top of the sprinkler.
  2. Turn the tool clockwise to decrease the radius or counter-clockwise to increase the radius.
  3. Observe the spray pattern and adjust as needed to achieve desired coverage.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your K-Rain RPS75 sprinkler.

6.1. Cleaning the Filter Screen

A clogged filter screen can reduce spray performance.

  1. Turn off the water supply to the sprinkler.
  2. Unscrew the top of the sprinkler or carefully pull up the riser assembly.
  3. Remove the filter screen located at the base of the riser.
  4. Rinse the screen under running water to remove any debris. Use a soft brush if necessary.
  5. Reinsert the clean filter screen and reassemble the sprinkler.

6.2. Winterization (for cold climates)

In regions with freezing temperatures, proper winterization is crucial to prevent damage.

  • Completely drain all water from the irrigation system, including the sprinkler heads.
  • Consider using an air compressor to blow out the lines, ensuring no water remains. Consult a professional if unsure.

7. Troubleshooting

Refer to the table below for common issues and their solutions.
