4.1 Hardware Connection

  1. Connect the Adapter to your Computer: Insert the USB 3.0 connector of the WAVLINK adapter into an available USB 3.0 port on your computer. If your computer only has USB-C ports, use the provided USB-C to USB-A converter to connect the adapter.
  2. Connect to Display: Connect an HDMI cable (not included) from the HDMI output port of the WAVLINK adapter to the HDMI input port on your external monitor, HDTV, or projector.
  3. Audio Connection (Optional): For external audio, connect your microphone to the 2.1CH Microphone In port and your earphones to the Earphone Out port on the adapter.

4.2 Driver Installation (DisplayLink)

For MacOS Users:

MacOS requires specific permissions for DisplayLink to operate. Follow these steps to install the DisplayLink Manager application:

  1. Launch your web browser (e.g., Safari) and navigate to the DisplayLink downloads page.
  2. Locate and download the correct version of the DisplayLink Manager application for your MacOS version (e.g., Ventura 13, Monterey 12).
  3. Double-click the downloaded file to start the application installer.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts, clicking "Continue" and "Agree" to the license agreement.
  5. Enter your system password when prompted to allow the installation.
  6. After installation, you may receive a request from DisplayLink Manager to allow notifications. Click "Allow".
  7. Important: MacOS requires you to permit "Screen Recording" for the DisplayLink driver to work properly. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording and enable DisplayLink Manager. You may need to authenticate with your login details. If prompted to "Quit & Reopen", click it.

For Windows, Ubuntu, and ChromeOS Users:

Download the appropriate DisplayLink driver from the official DisplayLink website and follow the on-screen installation instructions. Typically, these operating systems require less manual configuration for screen recording permissions compared to MacOS.

Once the adapter is connected and drivers are installed, you can configure your display settings to utilize the external monitor in various modes:

The DisplayLink software allows you to easily switch between these modes and arrange your displays as needed. You can connect multiple WAVLINK adapters (one per monitor) to your computer to support up to 6 total monitors on PCs.
