1. Introduction
The FIBARO Motion Sensor FGMS-001-ZW5 is a universal Z-Wave Plus multi-sensor. This device combines four functions into one compact unit: motion detection, temperature measurement, light intensity sensing, and acceleration detection. Its small size and wireless design allow for flexible placement within your smart home environment. The sensor is designed to enhance security, comfort, and energy efficiency by providing real-time data to your Z-Wave controller.

2. Safety Information
- Read this manual carefully before attempting to install or operate the device.
- This device is designed for indoor use only.
- Do not expose the device to moisture, extreme temperatures, or direct sunlight.
- Keep the device away from children.
- Only use the specified battery type for replacement.
- Any repairs or modifications not authorized by the manufacturer may void your warranty and pose safety risks.
3. Package Contents
The FIBARO Motion Sensor package typically includes:
- 1 x FIBARO Motion Sensor (FGMS-001-ZW5)
- 1 x Battery (CR123A)
- 1 x Mounting Bracket
- 1 x User Manual (this document)

4. Setup
4.1. Battery Installation
- Rotate the sensor's casing counter-clockwise to open it.
- Remove the battery blocker.
- Insert the CR123A battery, observing the correct polarity.
- Close the casing by rotating it clockwise until it clicks into place.
4.2. Z-Wave Inclusion (Adding to Network)
- Ensure your Z-Wave controller is in inclusion (add) mode. Refer to your controller's manual for specific instructions.
- Place the Motion Sensor within direct range of your Z-Wave controller.
- Triple-click the B-button located inside the sensor's casing (after opening it). The LED indicator will flash blue.
- If inclusion is successful, the LED will glow green for a few seconds. If it glows red, inclusion failed.
- Once included, close the sensor casing.
4.3. Mounting the Sensor
The sensor can be mounted on a wall or ceiling using the included bracket.
- Attach the mounting bracket to your desired surface using screws or adhesive tape.
- Snap the FIBARO Motion Sensor onto the bracket.
- Adjust the sensor's angle to cover the desired detection area.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Motion Detection
The sensor detects movement within its field of view. When motion is detected, it sends a signal to the Z-Wave controller. The sensitivity of the motion sensor can typically be adjusted via your Z-Wave controller's configuration settings.

5.2. Temperature Measurement
The built-in temperature sensor reports the ambient temperature to your Z-Wave controller. This data can be used for climate control or to trigger other smart home devices.
5.3. Light Intensity Sensing
The sensor measures the light intensity (lux) in its environment. This information can be used to automate lighting, blinds, or other light-dependent devices.
5.4. Acceleration Detection (Tamper Protection)
The integrated accelerometer detects any tampering or movement of the sensor itself. If the sensor is moved or vibrated unexpectedly, it can trigger an alarm or notification through your Z-Wave system.
5.5. LED Indicator
The sensor's LED 'eye' provides visual feedback on its status:
- Blue flash: Motion detected.
- Green glow: Successful Z-Wave inclusion.
- Red glow: Z-Wave inclusion failed.
- Various colors: Can indicate temperature levels (configurable).

6. Maintenance
6.1. Battery Replacement
When the battery level is low, the sensor will report this to your Z-Wave controller. To replace the battery:
- Open the sensor casing by rotating it counter-clockwise.
- Remove the old CR123A battery.
- Insert a new CR123A battery, ensuring correct polarity.
- Close the casing by rotating it clockwise.
6.2. Cleaning
Wipe the sensor with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners or abrasive materials, as these can damage the device.
7. Troubleshooting
- Sensor not detecting motion: Check battery level. Ensure the sensor is placed within the optimal detection range and not obstructed. Adjust sensitivity settings via your Z-Wave controller.
- Sensor not communicating with Z-Wave controller: Ensure the sensor is within range of the controller or a Z-Wave repeater. Try re-including the device to your Z-Wave network.
- Inaccurate temperature readings: Ensure the sensor is not placed near heat sources or in direct sunlight, which can affect readings.
- Battery drains quickly: Frequent motion detection or reporting intervals can increase battery consumption. Adjust configuration parameters in your Z-Wave controller to optimize battery life.
7.1. Factory Reset
To perform a factory reset (this will remove the device from the Z-Wave network and restore default settings):
- Open the sensor casing.
- Press and hold the B-button for approximately 5-10 seconds until the LED glows yellow.
- Release the B-button.
- Quickly press the B-button again. The LED will glow red to confirm the reset.
- Close the casing.
