Setup

1. Install Batteries in the Chime Unit

  1. Open the battery compartment on the back of the portable chime unit.
  2. Insert 4 x LR14 (C) 1.5V alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Close the battery compartment securely.

2. Install Battery in the Push Button

  1. The CR2032 3V battery is typically pre-installed. If not, open the push button casing carefully.
  2. Insert the CR2032 3V lithium battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  3. Close the casing securely.

3. Mounting the Push Button

The push button is IP55 rated, making it suitable for outdoor installation. You can mount it using the included adhesive pad or screws.

  • Adhesive Mounting: Clean the desired surface thoroughly. Peel the backing from the adhesive pad and firmly press the push button onto the surface for at least 30 seconds.
  • Screw Mounting: Open the push button casing. Mark the desired screw positions on the wall. Drill pilot holes if necessary and secure the push button base with the provided screws. Close the casing.

4. Positioning the Chime Unit

The chime unit is portable, allowing you to place it anywhere within the 150-meter wireless range of the push button. For optimal performance, avoid placing it near large metal objects or thick walls that may interfere with the wireless signal.

Operating Instructions

1. Initial Use

Your Honeywell Home DCR311S doorbell kit is pre-configured and ready to use once batteries are installed. Press the push button to test the chime.

2. Changing Melodies

The chime unit offers 4 digitally enhanced melodies. To change the melody:

  • Locate the melody selection button on the chime unit (refer to the diagram in your quick start guide for exact location).
  • Press the button repeatedly to cycle through the available melodies. The chime will play each melody as you select it.
  • Stop pressing when you hear your desired melody.

3. Adjusting Volume

The chime unit has an adjustable volume level. To adjust the volume:

  • Locate the volume control button on the chime unit.
  • Press the button to cycle through the available volume levels.
  • The chime will play a sound at the current volume level.

4. "Secret Knock" Feature

The "Secret Knock" feature allows you to play a different melody when the push button is pressed three times quickly. This can help you identify family or friends at the door.

  • To activate: Press the push button three times in rapid succession.
  • The chime unit will play a distinct melody, different from the standard selection.

Maintenance

1. Battery Replacement

The doorbell system is designed for long battery life (up to 2 years). Replace batteries when the chime unit or push button indicator light (if present) signals low power, or if performance degrades.

  • Chime Unit: Replace with 4 x LR14 (C) 1.5V alkaline batteries.
  • Push Button: Replace with 1 x CR2032 3V lithium battery.
