The alarm clock features a clear negative display, control buttons for time and alarm settings, and a Snooze/Light button typically located on the top. The battery compartment is located on the back.
Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the alarm clock.
- Insert two (2) AA 1.5V batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
2. Initial Setup and Radio Signal Reception
Upon battery insertion, the clock will automatically begin searching for the DCF-77 radio signal from Frankfurt. This process can take several minutes. During this time, the radio signal icon may flash on the display. For optimal reception, place the clock away from electronic devices that may cause interference.
3. Time Zone Setting
If you are located outside the DCF-77 signal's effective range (approximately 1500 km) or in a different time zone, you may need to adjust the time zone manually. Refer to the operating section for specific instructions on setting the time zone (typically +/- 9 hours).
Operating Instructions
1. Manual Time Setting
In cases where the radio signal is not received or desired, the time can be set manually:
- Press and hold the 'SET' or 'MODE' button (refer to specific button labels on your device) until the time display flashes.
- Use the '+' or '-' buttons to adjust the hours and minutes.
- Press 'SET' or 'MODE' again to confirm each setting and move to the next.
2. Setting Alarms
The clock features two independent alarms (Alarm 1 and Alarm 2):
- Press the 'ALARM 1' or 'ALARM 2' button to view the current alarm time.
- Press and hold the respective alarm button until the alarm time flashes.
- Use the '+' or '-' buttons to set the desired alarm hour and minute.
- Press the alarm button again to confirm.
- To activate/deactivate an alarm, press the 'ALARM ON/OFF' button or the respective alarm button briefly until the alarm icon appears/disappears.
3. Snooze Function
When an alarm sounds, press the 'SNOOZE/LIGHT' button to temporarily silence the alarm. The alarm will sound again after a short interval (typically 5-10 minutes).
4. Backlight and Auto Light Function
- Temporary Backlight: Press the 'SNOOZE/LIGHT' button for a few seconds of illumination.
- Auto Light: The clock has a light sensor that automatically activates a subtle backlight in dark environments. This feature can usually be toggled ON/OFF via a switch or button on the back or side of the unit.
5. Temperature Display
The clock displays the indoor temperature. To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F), locate the '°C/°F' button or switch, usually on the back or side of the device, and press it.
6. Day of Week Language
The day of the week display supports 6 languages (German, English, Italian, French, Dutch, and Spanish). To change the language, refer to the specific language setting button or menu option in your clock's settings.
Maintenance
1. Cleaning
Clean the alarm clock with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or chemical agents, as these may damage the display or casing.
2. Battery Replacement
When the display dims or the clock's functions become erratic, it is time to replace the batteries. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the Setup section. Always replace both batteries simultaneously with new ones of the same type.
Troubleshooting
- No Display or Dim Display:
Ensure batteries are correctly installed and not depleted. Replace batteries if necessary. Check the Auto Light setting if the display is dim in darkness. - No Radio Signal Reception:
Relocate the clock to a different position, away from potential sources of interference (e.g., TVs, computers, metal objects). Allow several minutes for the clock to attempt reception again. If reception remains poor, set the time manually. - Incorrect Time Display:
Verify that the time zone setting is correct. If the radio signal is not being received, set the time manually. - Alarm Not Sounding:
Ensure the alarm is activated (alarm icon visible on display). Check that the alarm time is set correctly.
