5. Maintenance
- Keep the connectors clean and free from dust or debris.
- Avoid exposing the drive to extreme temperatures. The operating temperature range is 0-35 ℃ (32-95 ℉).
- Store the drive in a safe place when not in use to prevent physical damage.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Drive Not Recognized by iOS Device
- Ensure the iXpand Drive app is installed and updated to the latest version.
- Check that the Lightning connector is fully inserted into your iOS device.
- Verify that all necessary permissions are enabled for the iXpand Drive app in your device settings.
- If the issue persists, try connecting the drive to a computer and reformatting it (see 6.3 Reformatting the Drive).
6.2 Slow Transfer Speeds
- Ensure you are using a USB 3.0 port on your computer for optimal speeds. USB 2.0 ports will result in slower transfers.
- Large numbers of small files can transfer slower than fewer large files.
6.3 Reformatting the Drive (Windows PC)
If the drive is not recognized or is experiencing errors, reformatting may resolve the issue. Warning: Reformatting will erase all data on the drive. Back up any important files before proceeding.
- Plug the iXpand Flash Drive into a Windows PC.
- Open 'This PC' or 'My Computer'.
- Right-click on the iXpand drive and select 'Format'.
- Choose the desired file system (e.g., exFAT for compatibility with both Mac and PC, and large file sizes).
- Ensure 'Quick Format' is checked and click 'Start'.
- After formatting, safely eject the drive.
