2. Safety Information

Your safety and the safety of others are paramount. Always observe the following safety precautions when handling, installing, or operating with mower blades.

3. Installation

Follow these steps to safely replace your mower blades.

3.1 Tools Required

3.2 Blade Replacement Procedure

  1. Prepare the Mower:
    • Ensure the mower engine is off and cooled down.
    • Disconnect the spark plug wire or remove the battery to prevent accidental starting.
    • Position the mower on a flat, stable surface. If necessary, lift the front or side of the mower using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  2. Remove Old Blades:
    • Wear heavy-duty gloves and safety glasses.
    • Place a wood block between the blade and the mower deck to prevent the blade from turning while loosening the bolt.
    • Using the appropriate wrench or socket, loosen and remove the blade bolt. Note the orientation of any washers or spacers.
    • Carefully remove the old blade.
  3. Clean Deck (Optional):
    • While the blades are off, it is a good opportunity to clean any accumulated grass clippings and debris from the underside of the mower deck using a wire brush or scraper.
  4. Install New Blades:
    • Ensure the new Oregon 92-123 blade is oriented correctly. The cutting edge should face outwards and upwards towards the deck. The curved "lift" portion of the blade should point towards the deck to create airflow.
    • Align the blade's center hole with the spindle and ensure any alignment pins or holes on the blade match those on the spindle.
    • Reinstall any washers or spacers in their original orientation.
    • Thread the blade bolt by hand to ensure it is not cross-threaded.
    • Place the wood block again to prevent the blade from turning.
    • Tighten the blade bolt using a torque wrench to the manufacturer's specified torque. For Kubota mowers, this is typically between 70-90 ft-lbs (95-122 Nm). Refer to your mower's specific manual for exact torque specifications.
  5. Verify Installation:
    • After installation, manually spin each blade to ensure it rotates freely and does not wobble.
    • Reconnect the spark plug wire or reinstall the battery.

4. Operating Instructions

Once new blades are installed, proper operation ensures optimal cutting performance and blade longevity.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance extends the life of your blades and ensures consistent cutting performance.
