4. Operating Instructions
Your Hunter Newsome ceiling fan is equipped with a pull chain for easy control of fan speed and a reversible motor for year-round comfort.
4.1 Pull Chain Control
The fan speed is controlled by pulling the chain located on the fan's motor housing. Each pull cycles through the available speeds:
- Pull 1: High Speed
- Pull 2: Medium Speed
- Pull 3: Low Speed
- Pull 4: Off

4.2 Reversible Motor Function
The fan features a Whisper Wind motor with a reversible function, allowing you to change the direction of airflow for optimal comfort in different seasons. A switch on the fan's motor housing controls the direction.
- Summer Mode (Downdraft): Blades rotate counter-clockwise, pushing cool air down. This creates a wind-chill effect, making you feel cooler.
- Winter Mode (Updraft): Blades rotate clockwise, drawing cool air up and circulating warm air trapped near the ceiling. This helps to distribute heat more evenly.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your ceiling fan.
5.1 Cleaning
- Always turn off the power to the fan at the circuit breaker before cleaning.
- Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the fan blades and motor housing.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the finish.
- For outdoor use, ensure the fan is dry before restoring power.
5.2 General Care
- Periodically check all screws and connections to ensure they are secure.
- The motor is permanently lubricated and does not require oiling.
6. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your Hunter Newsome ceiling fan, consider the following general troubleshooting tips. For more complex problems, contact customer support.
- Fan Does Not Start: Check that the power is on at the circuit breaker. Ensure all electrical connections are secure. Verify the pull chain is in the "on" position.
