Maclean MCE137 360° Microwave Motion Sensor Instruction Manual

Introduction

The Maclean MCE137 is an advanced 360° microwave motion sensor designed for energy efficiency and enhanced security. It utilizes high-frequency electromagnetic waves (5.8GHz) to detect human movement, offering automatic and convenient control over connected devices. This sensor provides a wide detection field and can activate loads instantly upon detecting motion. Its unique microwave technology allows for detection through non-metallic obstacles like doors, glass, and thin walls, making it highly versatile for various applications, both day and night. The MCE137 is engineered for practical installation and broad utility.

Safety Information

  • Always disconnect power before installation or servicing.
  • Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician.
  • Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 1200W.
  • Ensure proper wiring connections to prevent electrical hazards.
  • Keep the device away from water and extreme temperatures.
  • This device has an IP20 rating, indicating it is suitable for indoor use only.

Setup

  1. Preparation: Ensure the main power supply is turned off before beginning installation.
  2. Mounting: Choose a suitable location for the sensor, ideally between 1.5m and 3.5m high, ensuring it has a clear line of sight to the desired detection area. Mount the sensor securely to a wall or ceiling using appropriate screws and anchors (not included).
  3. Wiring: Connect the live (L), neutral (N), and load (L') wires according to the wiring diagram provided on the device or in the packaging. Ensure all connections are secure and insulated. The sensor requires a 220-240V AC power supply.

  1. LUX (Light Sensitivity): This knob controls the ambient light level at which the sensor will activate.
    • Turn towards '3' (moon symbol) for activation only in low light conditions (e.g., night).
    • Turn towards '2000' (sun symbol) for activation in all light conditions (day and night).
  2. SENS (Sensitivity/Detection Range): This knob adjusts the detection range of the sensor.
    • Turn towards '-' for a shorter detection range (e.g., 2 meters).
    • Turn towards '+' for a longer detection range (e.g., up to 16 meters).
  3. TIME (Time Delay): This knob sets how long the connected load remains active after motion is last detected.
    • Turn towards '10s' for a shorter delay (10 seconds).
    • Turn towards '12min' for a longer delay (12 minutes).

Maintenance

  • Clean the sensor's surface regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure the sensor lens is free from dust or obstructions for optimal performance.
  • Periodically check wiring connections for tightness and signs of wear.

Troubleshooting

  • Light does not turn on:
    • Check power supply.
    • Verify wiring connections.
    • Adjust LUX setting (ensure it's not set too low for current light conditions).
    • Adjust SENS setting (increase sensitivity).
    • Ensure no obstructions are blocking the sensor's field of view.
  • Light stays on:
    • Check if there is continuous motion within the detection area.
    • Adjust TIME setting (reduce delay).
    • Reduce SENS setting to narrow the detection area.
  • Sensor detects motion intermittently:
    • Adjust SENS setting (increase sensitivity).
    • Ensure the sensor is mounted at the recommended height and angle.
    • Check for environmental factors like strong air currents or heat sources that might interfere.
