Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe assembly, operation, and maintenance of your Guide Gear Small ATV UTV Utility Trailer. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product to ensure proper function and to prevent injury or damage.
The Guide Gear Small ATV UTV Utility Trailer is designed for hauling items with ATVs, UTVs, trucks, or SUVs. Constructed from lightweight, corrosion-resistant aluminum, it offers durability for year-round use. Key features include a 2-inch receiver tube with anti-wobble technology, a raised receiver bar providing 5 inches of additional clearance, and side rails for securing cargo.
Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when assembling and operating the utility trailer. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or property damage.
- Read All Instructions: Ensure you understand all assembly and operating instructions before use.
- Wear Protective Gear: Use appropriate safety glasses and gloves during assembly.
- Check Load Capacity: Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 300 pounds. Overloading can lead to loss of control and damage.
- Secure Cargo: Always use appropriate tie-downs to secure all cargo within the side rails to prevent shifting or falling during transit.
- Inspect Before Use: Before each use, inspect the trailer for loose bolts, damaged components, or excessive wear. Do not use if any damage is found.
- Proper Hitch Connection: Ensure the trailer is securely attached to the vehicle's 2-inch receiver hitch using the provided hitch pin. Verify the anti-wobble mechanism is correctly engaged.
- Maintain Clearance: Be aware of the trailer's dimensions and the additional 5 inches of ground clearance provided by the raised receiver bar, especially when navigating uneven terrain.
- Off-Road Use: While suitable for ATVs and UTVs, be mindful of terrain conditions. This trailer does not include lights or reflectors, which may be required for on-road use in some jurisdictions.

Assembly Instructions
Assembly typically takes approximately one hour. It is recommended to use your own tools (a small crescent wrench and pliers) for easier assembly, as included tools may be basic.
- Prepare Components: Unpack all components and lay them out on a clean, flat surface. Identify the two aluminum cargo platform halves, the steel center support, and the U-shaped connecting pieces.
- Connect Platform Halves: Attach the two U-shaped aluminum pieces to connect the two halves of the aluminum cargo platform. Insert the bolts and hand-tighten the nuts initially.
- Attach to Steel Center Support: Position the assembled platform onto the steel center support. Secure the platform to the steel tube using the four bolts provided. Again, hand-tighten the nuts at this stage.
- Tighten U-Channel Bolts: Once all bolts are in place, fully tighten the bolts on the U-shaped aluminum connecting pieces.
- Final Tightening: Finally, securely tighten all bolts attaching the platform to the steel center support. Ensure all connections are firm and stable.
- Inspect for Sharp Edges: Some users have noted slightly sharp edges on the U-channel pieces. If present, carefully file or sand these edges smooth before final use to prevent injury.

Operating Instructions
Attaching the Trailer
- Insert Receiver Tube: Slide the 2-inch receiver tube of the trailer into your vehicle's compatible hitch receiver.
- Secure with Hitch Pin: Align the holes and insert the provided hitch pin, securing it with the cotter pin or clip.
- Engage Anti-Wobble: Ensure the anti-wobble mechanism is properly engaged to minimize noise and rattling during transit. If your hitch system requires an external anti-wobble device, install it according to its instructions.

Loading Cargo
- Distribute Weight Evenly: Place heavier items in the center of the carrier and distribute weight as evenly as possible.
- Do Not Exceed Capacity: The maximum load capacity is 300 pounds. Do not exceed this limit.
- Utilize Side Rails: The trailer features side rails. Use ropes, bungee cords, or cargo nets to securely tie down all items to these rails, preventing movement during transport.
- Maintain Clearance: The raised receiver bar provides an additional 5 inches of clearance. Be aware of this when loading and driving, especially over uneven terrain.

- Check for Damage: Inspect the aluminum frame and steel components for cracks, bends, or other signs of damage. Replace any damaged parts immediately.
- Storage: Store the trailer in a dry, protected area when not in use to prolong its lifespan.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Trailer wobbles or rattles excessively. | Loose hitch connection; anti-wobble mechanism not engaged; uneven cargo load. | Ensure hitch pin is secure. Verify anti-wobble feature is correctly installed. Re-distribute cargo evenly. Consider an aftermarket anti-wobble device if necessary. |
| Difficulty inserting hitch pin. | Misalignment of hitch and receiver tube holes. | Adjust the trailer's position slightly until holes align. Ensure no debris is obstructing the holes. |
| Cargo shifts during transit. | Improperly secured cargo. | Always use appropriate tie-downs (ropes, bungee cords, cargo nets) to secure all items to the side rails. Ensure tie-downs are tight. |
