Operating the Camera
1. Simple One-Button Control
The HERO Session features a simplified one-button control for quick capture. Press the Shutter/Select button once to power on the camera and automatically begin capturing video or time lapse photos. Press the button again to stop recording and power off the camera. This conserves battery life by only powering on when actively recording.
2. Video and Photo Modes
The camera records stunning video at resolutions up to 1440p30 (4:3 aspect ratio) and 1080p60. It captures 8MP still photos, including single photos, 10 FPS burst photos, and time lapse photos with intervals from 0.5 to 60 seconds. You can adjust these settings directly on the camera or via the GoPro App.
3. Audio Performance
Equipped with dual microphones and advanced noise filtering, the HERO Session delivers clear audio, even in high-wind conditions. This ensures your captured moments sound as good as they look.
4. GoPro App and Smart Remote
For advanced control and convenience, connect your HERO Session to the free GoPro App on your mobile device or use the optional Smart Remote. The app allows you to preview your shots, frame your scenes, and easily view, edit, and share your captured footage directly from your phone.

Maintenance
1. Waterproof Care
While the HERO Session is waterproof without a separate housing, always ensure the side door is securely closed before exposing the camera to water. Regularly inspect the rubber seals around the door for any debris or damage that could compromise its waterproof integrity. Rinse the camera with fresh water after use in saltwater environments.
2. Battery Care
The camera uses two internal Lithium Polymer batteries. To maximize battery life, avoid exposing the camera to extreme temperatures. Store the camera in a cool, dry place when not in use. The battery is not user-replaceable.
3. SD Card Formatting
For optimal performance and to prevent data corruption, it is recommended to format your microSD card regularly using the camera's formatting function or a computer. This ensures the card is properly prepared for recording.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your HERO Session, try the following basic troubleshooting steps:
- Camera Not Responding: Ensure the battery is charged. If unresponsive, press and hold the Shutter/Select button for 10 seconds to reset.
- Recording Issues: Check if the microSD card is inserted correctly and has sufficient free space. Try formatting the card.
- Connectivity Problems: Ensure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on both the camera and your mobile device. Restart both devices and try reconnecting.
- Poor Audio Quality: Ensure the microphone ports are clear of debris. Avoid covering the microphones during recording.
