4. Setup
4.1 Unpacking
- Carefully remove the air purifier from its packaging.
- Remove any plastic bags or protective materials.
- Inspect the unit for any signs of damage. If damaged, do not operate and contact customer service.
4.2 Filter Installation (Initial Setup)
The filters may come pre-installed but require removal of protective packaging before first use.
- Ensure the unit is unplugged from the power outlet.
- Locate the filter access panel, typically on the side or back of the unit.
- Open the access panel.
- Remove the True HEPA and Activated Carbon filters.
- Remove any plastic wrapping from the filters.
- Reinsert the filters into their designated slots, ensuring proper orientation.
- Close the access panel securely.
4.3 Placement
For optimal performance, place the air purifier in a central location within the room you wish to purify. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for unobstructed airflow.

5. Operation
5.1 Power On/Off
Plug the air purifier into a standard electrical outlet. Press the Power button (⏻) on the control panel to turn the unit on or off.
5.2 Fan Speed Adjustment
The AC550 has four fan speed settings. Use the Speed Adjustment buttons (- and +) to cycle through the available speeds. Higher speeds provide faster air purification, while lower speeds offer quieter operation.
5.3 Auto Mode
Press the AUTO button to activate Auto Mode. In this mode, the built-in dust-sensing technology will monitor the air quality and automatically adjust the fan speed to maintain optimal purification.
5.4 Sleep Mode
Press the SLEEP button to activate Sleep Mode. The unit will operate at its lowest, quietest setting, and the display lights will dim or turn off to minimize disturbance during sleep.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your air purifier.
6.1 Filter Replacement
The Filter Replacement Indicator lights will illuminate when it's time to replace the filters. The True HEPA filters and Activated Carbon filters have different lifespans and may need to be replaced at different intervals.
- Unplug the air purifier from the power outlet.
- Open the filter access panel.
- Remove the old filters.
- Dispose of used filters responsibly.
- Insert new Vornado replacement filters, ensuring they are unwrapped and correctly oriented.
- Close the access panel.
- Plug in the unit and reset the filter indicator by pressing and holding the appropriate button (refer to the control panel diagram in Section 3).

6.2 Cleaning the Unit
Wipe the exterior of the air purifier with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the unit is unplugged before cleaning.
