4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Basic Operation
To start the drill, press the trigger switch. The speed of the drill is controlled by the amount of pressure applied to the trigger; the more you press, the faster the drill rotates. To stop the drill, release the trigger switch.
4.2 Speed Control
The AEG BS 12C2 features two mechanical speed gears and electronic speed control via the trigger.
- Gear 1 (Low Speed): 0-350 min-1. Use for high torque applications such as driving large screws or drilling large diameter holes in softer materials.
- Gear 2 (High Speed): 0-1500 min-1. Use for faster drilling in smaller diameters or for general drilling tasks.
To change gears, slide the gear selector switch located on top of the drill. Ensure the drill is stopped before changing gears to prevent damage.
4.3 Torque Adjustment
The drill has a 17-step torque adjustment ring plus a dedicated drill setting. The torque ring allows you to set the amount of torque the drill will apply before the clutch disengages, preventing overtightening of screws or damage to the workpiece.
- Rotate the torque adjustment ring to select the desired setting. Lower numbers indicate lower torque, suitable for smaller screws or softer materials. Higher numbers provide more torque for larger screws or harder materials.
- For drilling applications, set the ring to the drill symbol (indicated by a drill bit icon) to bypass the clutch and provide maximum power.
4.4 Drilling and Screwing
The drill supports both clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation.
- Forward Rotation (Clockwise): Used for drilling and driving screws. Set the forward/reverse selector switch (located above the trigger) to the left position.
- Reverse Rotation (Anti-clockwise): Used for removing screws or backing out drill bits. Set the forward/reverse selector switch to the right position.
An integrated LED light illuminates the work area when the trigger is pressed, improving visibility in dimly lit conditions.
