Operating (Gameplay)
Scrabble is a word game for 2 to 4 players where the objective is to score more points than opponents by placing tiles bearing single letters onto a game board, forming words in a crossword fashion.
- Starting the Game: The player who draws the letter closest to 'A' goes first. Blank tiles are wild and count as 'A'.
- Forming Words: On your turn, form a word on the game board using two or more of your letter tiles. The first word must cover the center star square. Subsequent words must connect to existing words on the board. Words can be formed horizontally or vertically.
- Scoring: Each letter tile has a point value. Place tiles on premium squares (Double Letter Score, Triple Letter Score, Double Word Score, Triple Word Score) to multiply your points. Keep track of your score.
- Drawing New Tiles: After forming a word, draw new tiles from the pouch to replenish your rack to seven tiles.
- Passing or Exchanging: If you cannot form a word, you may pass your turn or exchange some or all of your tiles for new ones from the pouch (this costs a turn).
- Ending the Game: The game ends when all letters have been drawn and one player has used all their tiles, or when all players pass two consecutive turns.
- Determining the Winner: The player with the highest total score wins.
