This image displays the compact design, screw clamp terminals, and product labeling including "Telemecanique" and "LAD8N11" (note: the model number in the image might be a variant or part of a series, the product being described is LAD-8N20), along with contact designations (NO, NC) and terminal numbers.

TeSys Deca contactors and their accessories are engineered for seamless integration into various control applications, offering quick and straightforward setup while maintaining a compact form factor. This product adheres to multiple international standards, including IEC, UL, CSA, CCC, and EAC, ensuring broad compatibility and safety compliance.

2. Installation and Setup

2.1 Safety Precautions

  • Ensure all power is disconnected before beginning installation to prevent electrical shock.
  • Installation should be performed by qualified personnel familiar with electrical systems and local wiring codes.
  • Verify that the voltage and current ratings of the auxiliary contact block are compatible with the application.

2.2 Mounting

The LAD-8N20 auxiliary contact block is designed for clip-on side mounting onto compatible LC.D contactors or CAD control relays. Align the contact block with the designated mounting slots on the side of the main device and firmly press until it clicks into place. Ensure a secure mechanical connection.

2.3 Wiring

This unit utilizes screw clamp terminals for electrical connections. The block provides two Normally Open (2NO) contacts. Identify the terminal markings for the NO contacts. Use appropriate gauge wire for the rated current (up to 10A). Strip the wire insulation to the recommended length, insert the wire into the terminal opening, and tighten the screw firmly to ensure a good electrical connection. Avoid over-tightening.

  • Normally Open (NO) Contacts: These contacts are open when the main contactor/relay is de-energized and close when it is energized.

3. Operation

The LAD-8N20 auxiliary contact block operates in conjunction with the main LC.D contactor or CAD control relay to which it is attached. When the main contactor/relay coil is energized, its main contacts change state, and simultaneously, the auxiliary contacts on the LAD-8N20 also change state. Since this block provides 2NO contacts, these contacts will close when the main device is energized and open when it is de-energized.

These auxiliary contacts are typically used for control circuit applications, such as signaling, interlocking, or providing feedback on the status of the main contactor/relay. They are not intended for direct power switching of high-current loads.

4. Maintenance

The Schneider Electric TeSys Deca auxiliary contact block is designed for high reliability and durability, requiring minimal maintenance. However, periodic inspection is recommended to ensure optimal performance and safety.

  • Visual Inspection: Regularly check for any signs of physical damage, discoloration, or loose connections.
  • Terminal Tightness: Periodically verify that all screw clamp terminals remain securely tightened.
  • Cleaning: If necessary, gently clean the exterior of the contact block with a dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent premature wear or malfunction.

5. Troubleshooting

If the auxiliary contact block does not function as expected, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

  • No Contact Change:
    • Verify that the main contactor or control relay is properly energized and operating.
    • Check the mechanical connection of the auxiliary contact block to the main device; ensure it is securely clipped on.
    • Inspect wiring to the auxiliary contacts for continuity and proper connection.
  • Intermittent Operation:
    • Check for loose screw clamp terminal connections.
    • Ensure the main contactor/relay is not experiencing chattering or inconsistent operation.
  • Overheating/Discoloration:
    • Immediately disconnect power. This could indicate an overload or a faulty connection.
    • Verify that the current through the auxiliary contacts does not exceed the rated 10A.

If issues persist after performing these checks, contact Schneider Electric technical support or a qualified electrician.
