4. Setup

4.1 Compatibility

The FC-W Wireless Remote is compatible with the following Chauvet Hurricane fog machines:

4.2 Connecting the Receiver

  1. Ensure your fog machine is powered off and unplugged from the main power supply.
  2. Locate the remote control input port on your Chauvet fog machine. This is typically a 5-pin DIN connector.
  3. Connect the cable from the FC-W receiver unit into the remote control input port of the fog machine. Ensure a secure connection.
  4. The FC-W receiver unit receives power directly from the fog machine, eliminating the need for an external power adapter.
  5. The receiver unit features a magnetized back plate, allowing it to be conveniently attached to the metal casing of the fog machine or other magnetic surfaces.

4.3 Setting DIP Switches (for multiple units)

The FC-W system supports controlling up to four fog machines independently. To achieve this, each receiver unit must be assigned a unique address using its DIP switches.

  1. On the FC-W receiver unit, locate the small DIP switch bank.
  2. Use a small tool (like a pen tip) to set the switches according to the desired address (1-4). Refer to the table below for common settings.
  3. Ensure the handheld transmitter is also set to the corresponding address to control that specific fog machine.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Initial Power-Up

  1. After connecting the FC-W receiver to the fog machine, plug the fog machine into a suitable power outlet.
  2. Allow the fog machine to warm up. The FC-W receiver unit has two LED indicators:
    • A red LED indicates the fog machine is heating.
    • A green LED indicates the fog machine is ready for operation.

5.2 Wireless Fog Output

  1. Once the green LED on the receiver unit illuminates, the fog machine is ready.
  2. Press and hold the button on the handheld FC-W transmitter to activate fog output. Release the button to stop fog output.
  3. The unobstructed operating distance for the wireless remote is approximately 100 feet (30 meters). Performance may vary depending on environmental factors and obstructions.
  4. If controlling multiple fog machines, ensure the transmitter is set to the correct address for the desired machine.

5.3 Transmitter Battery Replacement

The handheld transmitter is powered by a small battery. If the range decreases or the unit becomes unresponsive, the battery may need replacement. Refer to the transmitter's casing for battery type and replacement instructions.

The Chauvet DJ FC-W Wireless Remote requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure longevity:
